Strokes Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 Well all installed and working but no HD on sports channels other than. Ss1&2 . Phone call in the morning to have a moan. Specifically asked when I switched so not happyThe standard def is upscaled anyway, I think.Just threaten to cancel and get a big discount.
Strokes Posted 30 April 2014 Posted 30 April 2014 had sky for years, would cancel every 12 months and get another 12 month half price deal, found the sky fibre to be poor really so switched to virgin at beginning of the month. and loving it xl tv inc bt sports tivo box downstairs and v hd box in the bedroom weekend phone but we rarely use phone 100mb broadband ( direct into the router gives 100mb wifi is approx 50mb) installer says free upgrade in sept to 150mb £41,99 for 12 months then £67 for 6. went via quidco also for £160 cashback tracked and payment due may 14th we got xbox one and 2 xbosx and 3 laptops all connecting and no noticable issues. free netlfix for 6 month, virgin tv anywhere so can watch on my phone at work etc, use phone app as remote control also my mum has sky sports still so i use sky go for any matches on that i want to watch.. If your device can take more than 50mb wireless, there is a setting you can change on the router to deliver it.
Matt Posted 3 May 2014 Posted 3 May 2014 I've bit the bullet and finally gone to Virgin Media, now i've been with Sky for years and years and have used a 'magic eye' in another room, is that compatable or is there a similar product out there that works for Virgin Media? There must be I would think, I have had a quick search but it's most come up for Sky and not sure if they're compatable.

I don't think it costs excessively extra for additional boxes.

Now another issue i've just though of, I have a few things I recorded with Sky (most notably the Derby game) is there any way I can put this onto DVD or transfer into a file and get it on laptop? Again if not no worries, afterall it'll be on the season review dvd.

I would imagine any content would be encrypted and difficult to remove.
Matt Posted 31 May 2014 Posted 31 May 2014 Just had Virgin fitted. Not got off to the greatest of starts and i'm not sure I really like it The fitter asked if we wanted him to stay whilst it loaded, but it would take about 45 mins so we said no we'll just let it load and he could go to his next job anyway it loaded but no we had hardly any channels on it, so I called them it took a while for them to sort it, they did sort it though so fair play to them. Then this one is the biggy i'm abit pissed off with. We were sold the package in the thoughts that it was exactly what were getting on Sky, Fully HD, everything was to be the same, that's what we thought, turns out some channels are HD but not Sky Sports, e.t.c, no that's an extra £7 a month, so abit pissed about that. Also I can't see any Sky Sports News HD channel, is there one? Obviously there is on Sky but cannot find one in the guide on VM. Looking in the book you can only get Sky Sports 1 and 2 in HD aswell, as I can't see any Sky Sports 3 HD and Sky Sports 4 HD. I may have just overlooked them but I can't see them myself. Much prefer Sky's 'system', looks alot neater and professional. I'll get used to it hopefully, I've got 18 months too anyway, but not too impressed from intial thoughts. I thought I was going forwards going to VM but feel like i've gone backwards!
