Virgin or sky?

They'll probably not be taking into account,  possible issues with their machine, if they are using a wi-fi connection and there's interference, and not directly through the router etc. There are potential problems with routers also, with simple solutions such as simply 'resetting' it, not necessarily the ISP. There are sometimes issues with the exchange, but very rare, and sometimes maintenance is needed at the switch (the green or grey box you see on the pavement along your road) - this can be a repair job or something daft an engineer, not necessarily from Virgin has done. If you ring up Virgin you can tell if it's a local issue first. If there's no report, it's something even more local, ie. your router or your wifi connection.

I used to work for NTL/Telewest (Virgin), and have had them on/off for years (due to availability), and I'd go with them every single time possible for BB, as I do now, with Sky for my telly.

You also can check online for the status of the connection in your area. Sometimes it is down for repair and it also will let you know if there is a issue and whether if it is currently being fixed.

Yep or you can call someone else to do it for you.

Dunno, I'm not overly keen on kingfox.

He's no Virgin.

Right, I pay for the broadband, house phone and Sky TV in my house.

All in one package, is there anyway of getting it all cheaper? Ring them up and say something or is it pointless?

Ring them up and threaten to cancel?

I've thought about that but I know my luck they will be like "Ok Mr. Grandad, we accept this decision".

Ring up talktalk, BT etc. get quotes for direct comparisons. They will offer you a good start package, then ring sky and tell them the exact prices and services being offered. They will beat it, i do it every year.

That's weird, we've been with Virgin since it was NTL and it's never cut out once.

Yep, probably had it for the best part of 20 years and ours has only gone off once or twice in that time.

You can get sky atlantic on nowtv for £4.99 a month, so anyone with virgin wanting Game of thrones etc can just get that instead of switching.

Is there an affordable way to get both Sky Atlantic and a full sport package, with BT and Sky Extra?

Like, if you get Sky TV but BT broadband) phone do you still get access to the sports channels? How would that even work?

Should have read that one. In regards the above, this the closest and cheapest I'd get?

Also extra HD box in lads bedroom

All for £77-00 for 12 months. then £101 for next six. Pretty pleased with that.

Ffs that's over £900 a year and that's discounted ! No offence to anyone with the same/similar packages but how can anyone justify that for watching telly?

Virgin have recently signed a new deal with Sky for the premiums so you should get all (not just 1&2) in HD no need to worry

That's pretty good - I pay £40 just for BT Infinity (80MB, but get more like 60), and then extra TV channels are another £10 a month. Don't want a phone-line but have to have one as BT still think it's 1983 - the BT YouView box is literally the worst piece of shit I have ever had, the 12 year old PC I used to use for TV with Window Media Center was about 20-30x faster.

I just swapped from Orange (EE) who I had been with for 10 years until the router started playing up recently. Asked them for a new one - they refused, so signed up with BT broadband (got BT Sports included which was the clincher). Orange arseholes cut me off a week early, BT stuff arrived - all plugged in and works loads better than the old router. Please so far, although I have heard BT customer services are a bit cack if it all goes wrong....

Looking forward to another £10 on the bill!

Had a letter off Virgin to say their storage service is ending. They are going to use The Cloud at a charge. Not even sure if I use it ATM. Don't think I do if they are charging.
