ithuriel Posted 19 April 2014 Share Posted 19 April 2014 Not really surprised we have had nineteen keepers over the past ten years with chopping and changing managers and struggling for cash until the Thais arrived. My fave keepers over the years of watching City; Kevin Poole Kasey Keller with that very good back up Pegguy Arphexad Tim Flowers Kasper Smeichel
copunk Posted 19 April 2014 Share Posted 19 April 2014 can remember going to a city game in the 04 05 season and hirschfeld turning up to the stadium in a battered old vw beetle
MC Prussian Posted 19 April 2014 Share Posted 19 April 2014 They've all been named now - Pentney, Hirschfeld and Stuart Taylor were the last ones to come up. I'm surprised we got them so quickly. I was sure nobody would remember Hirschfeld. Pentney came on as sub in League 1, Hirschfeld played the last game of the 2004-05 season (Plymouth IIRC), Taylor of course on loan from The Arsenal. Jimmy Nielsen was on the books but never played! And then went on to have a decent MLS career later in his life.
ChrisJager Posted 19 April 2014 Share Posted 19 April 2014 It wasn't just Mark Wallington that was long serving. Before him were Peter Shilton and Gordon Banks, so from 1960 for over 20 years we just had 3 goalkeepers. Maybe the odd reserve filled in, but probably not into double figures.
