I think my graphics are going. Replacing them are expensive, is there anyway I can download a new video card?

lol I laughed. No the video card is inside your computer and is a physical thing.

You could try updating the drivers for your current video card.

If you go into tools/options/privacy there's a tab for cookies where you can put allowed or not allowed cookies. There's also a saved password option under tools/options/security.

Not sure if that does it.

The kids' netbook is not picking up any wireless network connection anymore. The desktop is still picking it up so it's not the router.I've turned off the fire wall and that's not helped. Does the computer have to go back to the shop?

Check the drivers are in.

Check that no switch on the laptop for wireless has been flicked 'Off' accidentally.

I can't find any switches. How do you check the drivers?

Try and press "Fn+F2" and see if that works, if it does not work, press it again to set it back to what it was.

No that didn't work. Does it need to go back to the shop?

Try a few more things first, they'd probably end up charging you a bomb for a simple task.

What is the laptop make and model? I'll try and hunt down the drivers for you.

It's less than 6 months old, it should still be under guarantee. However it's an Advent 4489.

Does it not come with a manual that tells you what the connections/buttons do. I'm sure it would have wireless on/off switch.

I can't find what wireless drivers are required for it.

If you would like to find out to help me find it, please could you click start > control panel > administrative tools > computer management > device manager (down the left)

Then look under "Network Adapters", press the + to open the list.

Is there a wireless card listed there or is there a yellow question mark?

Cheers.

It's listed as '802.11b/g mini card wireless adapter'.

It's sorted, I updated the driver by connecting it up with the yellow cable. Thanks for everybody's help.

OK. On the back of your laptop does it have either of these on the back "AR5B91" "RT2700E" "RTL8187SE". This should tell you the model of the wireless card. I have found that for your netbook, there are 3 types of wireless cards which have been released with it. lol

Like I said it's sorted now. Thanks for all your effort though.

Me again, it's the desk top this time. When I start it up it gets so far and freezes. I've switched it off at the plug and then restarted it again but it keeps happening just the same.

Do you get any beeps when it starts? And does the Windows splash screen come up or does it freeze before that?
