Why is it...

...that every time we identify a player for transfer, Southampton try to come along and piss on our cornflakes? First Pelle, then Wickham, now Delort! **** off, you south-coast *****!

On a serious note, do people think this is just paper talk - i.e. just stick Leicester and Southampton's names in there - or could there be some other reason we seem to be identifying very similar targets? Seems strange to me - I would say Southampton are a much bigger club than us in terms of the signings they can attract - are we punching above our weight in terms of signings, or are they looking at lower-end players in a bid to cut costs? It's not like they're short of cash with the players they've sold this summer.

Southampton I understand made a considerable loss over the last two years. I suspect that they are trying to balance the books, otherwise a.) they wouldn't be selling their prize assets b.) looking at lower end players that still might cut the mustard.

Unless it's from the BBC or Sky, I tend not to take notice of rumours. 95% of them will be made up. Not sure about if we're looking high or Southampton looking low, though. Pearson isn't an idiot, that's for sure, but neither will be Ronald Koeman with all he's done in the game.

Anyone can make something up at this time of year . People actually get satisfaction and earn a living at starting Chinese whispers for the football starved punters who want to hear anything about their clubs no matter how silly or ludicrous it may sound, knowing full well sites like ours and all club sites will take the bait and pass it on.

Mind you I'm not knocking it. I love all the close season speculation and debate . It fills in the time between the end of one season and the start of another. I just live football and there is no cure. :)  :)
