Matt Posted 21 August 2005 Posted 21 August 2005 1 and a half year away but I have it planned already , spoke to my Australian relitives today and the said to me "Are we coming to my cousin wedding" (In November) but I can't really because of work and because I can't really afford it, and they said "are we coming for Christmas" I said no because of the same reasons, but I have planned to take a trip over there for 2006 and the new year of 2007! Woohoo! Trip #3 to Oz sorted! Anyone else planned/planning for holidays next year yet?

The first time I went I spent 2 weeks in Melbourne, Then to Queensland for 1 and a half weeks then spent 3 days in Sydney. When (If ) I live in Australia it'll either be Melbourne or Sydney, probably Melbourne, the majority of family are there or near there, Melbourne's still busy but I think Sydney too busy for me. Will that be your first trip?

Although its their winter, the weather should still be great It'll be my first trip to Australia and I cant wait. My first week shall be up in Brisbane, followed by a week in Melbourne to visit a friend. The final week will be in Sydney I cant wait! Matt, you'll be over there for the next Ashes I believe, I hope you're a cricket fan!

I previously spent 8 months working in NZ (Dunedin, South Island), obviously also visited the North Island then. During Christmas/New Year, I also travelled around Australia (East Coast, basically Sydney and Queensland, e.g. Airlie Beach and some smaller places, plus Brisbane) for a month. Keen to be back "down under" again soon!

There are always keener to accept people with trades and/or family over there if you want to immigrate. When my uncle was 17 (hes now late 60s) he immigrated over there under the '£10 pom scheme' and didnt look back, he taught himself a trade (painting and decorating) and built everything up from scratch. Nice one Matt go for it!

I dont mind people planning big holidays like yours Matt because it does require planning and time etc but i hate it when pubs/bars/restaurants start planning xmas parties in July!! Its crazy! And whats worse is that places are telling customers that if they book early this year they get priority the year after but how the hell do the company know that they will be ther next year! Anything can happen in a year! People just need to chill out and stop wanting everythign NOW NOW NOW!!

Another way of looking at it is, It brilliant going to Australia on holiday but when you go and start working over there i'd imagine it'd become a different story - So I suppose I could stay in England for my future and just keep going to Australia for holidays similar to your uncle popping over to England. Australia is calling out for tradesmen like me but England also needs tradesmen, England are doing nothing about wanting people to do trades, (No offence to people going to uni or at uni, its your descision and good luck to you) but I dread to think about trades in England in a few years because people in England will be in alot of debt, there will be a massive shortage of tradesmen, and tradesmen can and will charge through the roof prices for jobs to be done, and if the job NEEDS to be done, people will pay for the work to be done. So looking at it that way it might be finacially better for me to stay in England - Australia are calling out for tradesmen and tradesmen are going to Australia therefore less money, less pay because there will be competative quotes, competative work. Do you understand what I mean?
