Ricey Posted 23 August 2005 Share Posted 23 August 2005 Just read in the Express that Nathan Blake has been banned from football for 6 months after been tested positive for using a social drug. What a guy

Thracian Posted 23 August 2005 Share Posted 23 August 2005 Suppose he'll end up better known for that than his football which is/was eminently forgettable.
CasinoGee Posted 23 August 2005 Share Posted 23 August 2005 I don't understand why people are banned for doing social drugs, they're not hariming anyone but themselves.

Thats the only reason i cant think why they are banned. It not a good image for football either. Best to get rid!

Anish Posted 23 August 2005 Share Posted 23 August 2005 I don't understand why people are banned for doing social drugs, they're not hariming anyone but themselves. 161492[/snapback] What if somebody who is 'high' goes out driving and has an accident killing an innocent person in the process? What about the illegal smuggling of drugs that is brought into this country because of the demand to use 'recreational drugs'? What about all the taxpayers' money that is wasted on cracking down (no pun intended) on the drugs scene, plus the fact that because such drugs are illegal the government is losing out on a hell of a lot of tax money? What about all the lives that are ruined (and the lives of family members) of drug addicts because they cannot kick their habits? There are social costs which are difficult to measure, but all the rehabilitation programmes, health care etc don't come for free. Taxpayers' money is being wasted on people who take recreational drugs thinking it doesn't harm anyone but themselves, only to get hooked and then wreck their lives because of it. Rant over.
