Dan Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Pearson - 3. An improvement from the last three weeks but still a poor decision overall to stick with a diamond that has as much penetration as a flaccid cock. Schlupp for Konchesky proved to be a decent decision which made a bit of sense I think. --- Schmeichel - 5. Could he have done better for their second? Played some nice passes on the counter but no-one other than Vardy seemed remotely arsed about them. De Laet - 3. Totally out of his depth against Mane. Morgan - 5. Pretty sure it was him who played Long onside for their second. He did well other than that but it goes against him for me. Wasilewski - 6. I thought he was the pick of our team again today. He's been a lot better than I thought he would be. Schlupp - 6. Technically he's absolutely chronic, but I thought he put in a very good defensive display considering the opposition. He was definitely more suited to the diamond than Konchesky is. Cambiasso - 4. Not in the game at all. I've been biting my tongue on this one but I don't think he fits us one bit. James - 4. Anonymous by and large. Drinkwater - 4. See James. King - 4. See James & Drinkwater. He is never a number ten in a million years. What an utter myth. Ulloa - 4. See James, Drinkwater and King. Vardy - 5. Tried to make things happen but he was outmuscled every single time he tried to turn their defence. They did their homework on him big time and fair play to them for that. Subs... Moore didn't look too bad. Powell produced another awful effort but in his defence we create so little it's actually refreshing to have a shot of some kind. If Chris Wood is the answer then what the **** is the queston? --- Southampton - 7. If they had been more potent early on and beat us 5-0 like their play could well have done then they'd have scored higher. They are a very good side. A joy to watch at times. Full of technically gifted, confident players. They will finish in Europe. --- Referee - 7. I have very little to say on the referee today which is never a bad sign from his point of view. --- Stay/go - stay, though he is absolutely bottling this season big time in my opinion. There's still time though.
teblin Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 But I thought Schlupp was League 1 standard.I've said time and again on here. If he plays left back he has the potential to be a premier player. Not sure anywhere else.
Dickov22 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Schlupp was at fault for the second goal, and nearly responsible for allowing Long to get a hat trick because on both occasions he tried to play the offside trap. I can't understand this lack of width Pearson is persisting with, all to fit Cambiasso in. To play 4 Cm's in a premier league game when you have a big man upfront who is absolute class in the air is just unbelievable. Last season and early this season we were so dangerous on the counter, played with such pace and energy. Pearson's got rid of that entirely. I don't know why
Jfox Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 We won't win another game this season if we continue to change our tactics to contain the opposition rather than playing to our strengths and trying to win the game. Southampton are a good team, but every team in this league will score against us eventually if we just sit back and play for a 0-0.
65RosesFox Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Not awful for most of the game so I'm not going to hammer the players for their performance. A lot of players were just passengers today though, people like Ulloa and Drinkwater who are good enough to influence the game did nothing. Nothing at all. I'd also like to know why De Laet keeps getting picked, has Simpson not impressed in training or something? This isn't me claiming to be ITK or anything but one of my mates was in one of the boxes for the Newcastle game and seen Simpson and had a brief chat. Simpson apparently said he is simply not fully match fit and that's why he hasn't been getting in. He said he had no pre season with QPR and hasn't played a competitive match for so long that when he signed for us he was well down on his fitness.
Countesthorpe Fox 1884 Posted 9 November 2014 Posted 9 November 2014 Don't want to sound funny but can we have an atmosphere rating so we don't get atmosphere threads after every game?
Guest MattP Posted 10 November 2014 Posted 10 November 2014 Schmeichel 6 De Laet 4 - embarrassing at times, he has to come out of the team now unfortunately. Morgan 6 - not as commanding as usual but thought did an ok job considering how poorly defensive the full backs were. Wasyl 7 - as above. Schlupp 5 - better than I thought he'd be but skinned far too easily too often, so easy to shift it past him and get a cross in. Cambiasso 5 - he looks like an old player getting his last paycheck James 5 - Poor, not helped having no outlet ball. Drinkwater 4 - his form at this level is becoming a huge cause for concern. King 4 - barely noticed him, incredible he's playing the main creative role while Mahrez is on the bench. Ulloa 5 - touched the ball less than ten times in the opposition half, says it all about the service he's getting. Vardy 6 - being abused by his own team, has become the outlet for everyone looking to get rid of a hot potato. Subs Moore 4 - looked slow and undisciplined Wood 4 - that miss Powell 4 - that shot
