burnleyfan Posted 3 December 2014 Posted 3 December 2014 A few weeks ago all seemed lost for us, but we stuck with what served us well last season and have started to adapt to playing in the premier league with 8 points from the last four matches. The feeling is that if we can stay in games for a hour we always have a chance to get something from them. It seems that by giving our players a chance to learn how to play at this level is giving us a fighting chance of staying up. I'd have thought Nigel Pearson would do likewise and allow time for the players to adapt. What's changed with that philosphy?

I'd have thought Nigel Pearson would do likewise and allow time for the players to adapt. What's changed with that philosphy? We've gone back to that now. We started out with a lot of injuries which meant we were forced into making lots of changes all over the team, although the results were good the form of the players was always going to drop off as they were behind our regular starters for a reason last season (not as good). We started to bring other players back in from injury and they didn't hit the ground running, Pearson panicked and started changing formation and line up regularly to try and find the answer. He then realised that it was doing more harm than good, and reverted back to how we played last season. Personally I think performances have improved since then, if not results. So I'd say we find ourselves where you were say 6/7 games ago. Struggling to make things click. I'm hoping if we stick with it, what served us well last year will start to click again as it did for you. Pearson's panic has left us behind you in how you develop with the league.

I think that our decent start led opposing teams to worry about stopping us playing rather than just thinking they could turn up and win. We have obvious weaknesses and the opposition arent shy about exploiting them. Now you have had a decent few results, I expect you can expect the same. Enjoy it whilst it lasts.
