Defoe is a decent player and would have still been playing for England (albeit in a smaller role) had he not gone to Canada. he was on fire when he left and many thought he still had the ability to continue in the prem. Even at Toronto he played well and scored something like 9 from 11 but got slated owing to injury and change of ownership of the team (I believe). Defoe has always been a hard worker and not one to just go along for the ride. I've always admired his play and would welcome him here - he will score goals.

What a lot of old pony! Some of your posts too are ok, then I wonder whether its the same bloke posting! lol

I've said I don't know why this club are not spending proper money on proper players. Maybe we are trying? Maybe no-one wants to join? But again, we are in a relegation dogfight and the best we can come up with is Jermain Defoe. Once a great striker, but basically given up real football to play in the MLS. Where is this club's (and our fans) ambitions?

I am sometimes a little surprised when I read some of what I read on here. Lets spend a bit, get the right men, show some balls..and stay up.

But I am an old pony..yiihaaa!!

I dont believe this club or our fans lack ambition, they accept in what category and pool of possibilities our search for reasonable free players we can afford to look at.That doesnt mean we we wont find that someone special, but we still have to be aware and accept on what transfer playing fields we can mix-it.

Plus today trying to keep interest low level, is imperative for clubs as our own.The big guys can afford to shout it from the hill tops, even lose the odd bid, their names alone guarrantees top names.

Not only NP but Dyche, Pullis, Bruce, but all managers and staff of low key clubs not from London, have little chance of making their names within clever transfer dealings, the days of old, like Bloomfields era, the MON era are long gone.

Many fans jump on their clubs Manager for so called lack of dealings, or even the dealings they have made, but come up short themselves on ideas and real possibilities where to look and what limited markets they dare venture into, and just slagging off into empty space.

Coaching manuals management courses dont teach these guys or create knowledgable geniuses, in the ways of the ever changing transfer markets. So far I read only the critic on clubs and manager and their buys so far. I waiting for a fan to suggest 5-10 players who within the clubs scope are willing to to look at us and would be interest to us,

and.....why.Then they would have the right to put their negative statements to the test.
