Babylon Posted 18 January 2015 Posted 18 January 2015 Why was Albrighton dropped - Because Schlupp was fit to play, simple as that. Almost universally agreed on here that Schlupp had been improving massively the last month or so and had been one of our best players. He also brought more pace to the team and more strength to the midfield that was seriously lacking any muscle. So it was either Albrighton or Knockaert. We like to play with one man cutting in from the wing so we went with Knockaert who has also played pretty well against Villa, so much so he was rightly or wrongly given MOTM for that game. Why was Ulloa dropped - he wasn't great against Villa and clearly we felt pace was the better option against a big Stoke defence. You could have played Ronaldo up front and he'd have struggled with no service anyway. It might not have worked and it's all very well with the benefit of hindsight to say it was the wrong decision, but the reasoning is understandable. Personally it's fairly pointless to be even arguing these things as the problem was in the centre where we had no viable alternatives to just a two in the midele with King and Drinkwater.

Exactly what I said further up the thread. You cant argue with idiots though. I've had responses back saying Ulloa played well against Villa (he had a shocker) and that Schlupp doesn't have any strength! (He clearly does) We lost the game in the middle because we were too lightweight and needed three in there. Problem is we only had two fit. Drinkwater had a very poor game too.
