"Pearson, who was appointed for a second spell at the King Power Stadium in 2011, was summoned to a meeting by the club’s owners 24 hours after he was captured on television cameras appearing to grab James McArthur by the throat after the Palace midfielder accidently collided with him on the touchline.

It is understood that the incident played a part in the decision of the Thai owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, and his board to terminate the 51-year-old’s employment, although a record of four wins and five draws from their 24 games this season was a contributing factor."

If ever there was proof that newspapers just make things up, this is it.

Sky got some dodgy info, reported it, it got picked up by the guardian which tried to make it sound sexier than it was by talking about the Pearson/McArthur incident when in reality NP hadn't been sacked at all, least of all for the very specific reasons suggested by the paper.
