So, have been volunteering as Coach/Manager/Administrator/Boot lace technician at my son's Under 7's football team. Anyone else on here coaching at that level? The club want me to do the FA Level 1 coaching badge but I'm struggling time wise to fit it in.

The "Development Sesssions" organised by the County FA/League have been largely disappointing but we are now have regular freindlies organised via a facebook group!

Anyway, I'd be interested to hear other coaches' experiences. Has anyone used an app/website to help keep track of fixtures, results and stats?

I also coach an under 8s team and this year has been a massive disappointment as far as league fixtures are concerned.

I did the level 1 coaching which is quite a decent course so would recommend you do that

We had a "Futsal taster session" but unfortnately the venue didn't have any Futsal goals or balls so they kids had to use full size five a side goals which made it a bit pointless. And the Futsal coach didn't show up!

Futsal is brilliant and if you can get kids involved at a young age it really does improve the mental aspect (as well as the obvious technical aspect) of the sport, which can be transferred to full 11 a side when they are old enough and developed enough to play.

I'm going to start training with an Under 10's team which is my little brothers lot. Something that hasn't really interested me in the past but watching them makes me want to pass on my knowledge since managing in the adults game for 7 years now.

It is tremendously rewarding to work with the kids. My boys have shown great improvement since the start of the season. I do find the barrage of emails and administration a pain though!

We are allowed to register 10 players and play a 5 a side format. I am lucky that I get 9 or 10 every week (never less than 8) which makes giving them all game time a bit of a challenge!

For now, I'm just letting them enjoy themselves and they all go to a soccer school on a Saturday which is run by a qualified coach.

I am doing under 16's at the minute, so difficult age in terms of attitude sometimes but it's pretty rewarding. Level 1 is really easy to pass, am hoping to do level 2 in the summer.

It's just the time commitment. Last time I looked it was two full weekends, plus a couple of evenings which I simply cannot manage with a young family/work etc. But I would like to do it at some point!

Yes, I think it would be great, it was just a shame that the coach couldn't be arsed to show up. The kids still enjoyed a kickabout but a missed opportunity!

We too had a futsal taster which had no coaches and ended up being outside in the freezing cold, 7 year old kids asking me if they could go home after 20 minutes so off we went

So, about to commence my second season with the kids (now at Under 8 level). Am currently doing my FA Level 1 Coaching course which is a huge time commitment - two evenings last week, one evening this week, then three full days over the next two weekends - plus a large chunk of homework.

Anyone else done the course, or planning to do so?
