Donut Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 They were good enough for the Championship, so do we stick with this squad again, but with a new manager? The squad will need to be rebuilt significantly in my opinion. 1) Key components of the team are getting old. Cambiasso, Wasilewski, Upson, Konchesky, Schwarzer, Nugent. Something has to happen to all of these players, whether they are kept on but now becoming much older than in the previous promotion season, or released and then we dont have them at all. 2) Some of last years key players have been frozen out, and its unlikely theyll come back in and instantly be a hit. Some of them probably wonder why they havent had an opportunity, some of them probably want out. Moore, Knockaert, Drinkwater, Vardy to name 4 were key parts of the promotion season. All of which have had little game time this season, but would have to become central figures again by sticking with the same squad. 3) The experiences of this season have left the team battered, bruised and sapped of confidence. Playing a style that they are not used to, Theyve lost games on a constant basis and been shown up to be very average players. Relegation is not going to give the suffering players a shot in the arm that they will instantly mix it with teams playing expansive and fluent styles, the Watfords, Norwich's, Bournemouth's etc who know no fear. 4) A new manager might not fancy the players that are here, or wouldnt be able to implement his philosophy to the extent he wants with the players that are here.
weller54 Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 It's not the players fault were going down, its Pearson he isn't a premier league manager. THIS!!!!!!!
Soar Fox Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 Martin O'Neil was at our game today. Get him in ASAP
GingerrrFox Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 It's not the players fault were going down, its Pearson he isn't a premier league manager It's a combination of both. The majority of our players simply aren't good enough for this standard. Anyone blaming the manager fully is lying to themselves and everyone on this board. We have 5 players that can definitely cut the mustard at this level; Huth, Upson, Cambiasso, Mahrez and Matty James. Then there are a big number that are nowhere near consistent enough to play regularly at this level, they show glimpses of ability but cannot replicate it week in and week out, that includes the likes of; Vardy, Ulloa, Schlupp, Kramaric etc. The rest simply aren't good enough.
cjslcfc Posted 14 March 2015 Posted 14 March 2015 I know this is only slightly on topic but I reckon Vardy is going to score a hatful of goals in the Championship next season. Out of our players James, Mahrez, Cambiasso, Was and Huth (not ours really) have shown they can play in the PL. The rest are either inconsistent or not good enough. Even with overhaul we will have a good squad next season and players like Vardy will come to the fore again. It just depends which PL teams fancy taking a chance on some of our players as to how much of our better players remain.
