luckyalex13 Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 Hi, My wife has started an online shop. Please take a look :-) http://www.snowdropsonline.co.uk/shop/4587971846
Crinklyfox Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 I've just taken a look. Whilst it's pretty obvious what the range of goods are, please consider putting a little explanation about the company on the Home Page, I think it may help. People have different decision-making processes, some use logic (I wanted some scented candles, there they are, I'll buy them), others like to get a warm feeling about the company and products first before they buy (Andrex puppies, Meerkats selling a comparison site, etc.).
luckyalex13 Posted 18 March 2015 Author Posted 18 March 2015 thanks. i will try to come up with something :-) so many things to think of I didn't even think about that :-)
Smudge Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 It's so easy to be critical but and that's not my intent but when you click on the photos you expect a significant enlargement of the item. The image increases only from 280 x 223 to 352 x 281 pixels. If the originals would allow it, I would enlarge them significantly. I'd also use "Lightbox" javascript to have the image show up on the same page. If want help with that pm me.
luckyalex13 Posted 18 March 2015 Author Posted 18 March 2015 i wanted to get the pictures to come up larger and the only way i managed to do it was once you have gone into the item, then click the pic again and it brings it up in larger format. i will pm as i am a novice. thank you :-)
Merging Cultures Posted 18 March 2015 Posted 18 March 2015 As said by Smudge, it is too easy to be critical, I think she is doing a good job. Personally, I prefer more white space on a website. I'd spend a bit more time working on the layout and making it cleaner and more modern. Look through pinterest for ideas. Also, I've mentioned before that my friend in Baltimore (therefore not a competitor!) has a shop, her website is pretty simple http://beckethitch.com/it's clean and attractive. Also, pay a bit to remove the adverts. You won't get much traffic, and they make a 'shop' look tacky.

Yh, I wanted to get more white space on there but was struggling. i need to spend a bit more time figuring out how it works your friends site is very nice indeed :-)
