Leicesterboi Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I think that on the basis of what i saw last season, the only thing Sunderland had that we didnt was alot of noisy support. i kno they played some nice stuff but we were capable of that but maybe we lacked the 12th man. agreed?

We played terrible for most of the season, and better support would not have changed that.
connolly19 Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 I totally agree mate, I went to watch them against Leicester and they were not anything special at all although as you said they are very loud. I do love Julio Arca though!
Matt Posted 18 May 2005 Posted 18 May 2005 Why should we have gone up? We didn't play amazingly well did we? One thing...THE TABLE DOES NOT LIE! Did we finish where we did because someone just decided to place us there? NO! We deserved to be where we finished! Its like when we're in the premiership last and we lost loads of last minute goals, if we hadn't of conceaded so many in the last few minutes we wouldn't have been relegated, infact we would have been contending for a champions league spot, but guess what? we didn't dream those last minute goals, they really did happen, end off! This is a problem with some football fans can't tell/see the truth, if the something happens to another team lets all point and laugh, when it happens to the team you support and its people pointing and laughing at you, lets roll of the excuses.... Don't lie, If we should have gone up, we would have gone up!
Leicesterboi Posted 18 May 2005 Author Posted 18 May 2005 On paper i jsu think though that we are better than them. especially in midfield. i mean arca is probably the only stronger player as we are weak on the right. but williams and hughes are by far better than thornton and whitehead and tiatto is more effective than gay boi lawrence.

The fact is, our team was poor for 90% of the season and we finished where we deserved, nowhere

What planet are you on? We were shite for the best part of the season under both Mickey and CL. There was a little (and i mean little) improvement towards the end but we were nothing better than a poor contender. I reckon both Sunderland and Wigan will come back down as seems the fashion but if by some miracle we had spawned promotion, our season would have been over by December. We didn't just lack a 12th man, we needed a 13th, 14th, 15th..........
Realistic fox Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 Lieciester Boi i have one thing to say to that: Bol locks. How can you say that a the team that is finshes 15 places higher with about 40 more point than city and beat them twice, are not as good as city. Thornton is rumoured to be coming to City because they don't want him anymore so he probably didn't even play for them. As for the 12th man that trash. They had an average attendance similar to ours for all of the season so how does that make a difference. To be honest pal i don't know what planet you are on. The table never lies and neither does the formbook so i would engage your brain cell before you come out with anymore rubbish
supedaj Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 No now kids - no need for harsh insults here! ;o) Sunderland were miles better than us - settled squad, good manager and a few key players. The team was fairly consistent throughout the season - we've had a very difficult season and its not a real surprise we ended up as we were. See below; 1) Last season - defensive frailty. Did everyone know Micky used 14 different players for the back 4 places throughout the season? Thats 3 separate back 4's and 2 subs!! No consistency led to def problems. We had the quality to stay up no doubt but this was a deciding factor. 2) Relegation - best players leave : Izzet, Thatcher, Dickov, Ferdinand, Bent (to name a few) 3) Micky Makes several oldy transfers and the press tip us for promotion, not realising it will take time for several of the new players to gel, and whether they are actually hungry for success or just passing time... 4) La Manga still clouds over several players and possibly has an affect on performances 5) Expectations due to paper reports previously mean steady performances are just not good enough - i.e. "we should be TOP!" 6) Frustrations & Pressures build and Micky leaves delusioned squad. 7) Basset the cowboy and Wilkinson take over - no comment 8) CL comes in with a whole new set of ideas and takes times to steady the ship 9) Several key players playing for futures (or whats left of them) 10) Relegation uncertainty, bad results creep in 11) Finish off with a few good wins, decent performances and mass clearout of dead wood underachievers.. The rebuilding will take time. If we actually went up this season im afraid we would come straight back down. We dont have the money, the team or the expertise for the premiership as yet. CL has started something and I believe he will prove to be good for Leicester, over time. Its very important that fans dont get on his back too much when things dont always go as expected. Once MON came in the fans were on his back for quite a while and although he knew he would turn things around, he still remembers the days we expcted miracles from him and shouted abuse when we didnt get them. Lets give CL a chance over the course of the season, and not expect automatic promotion. Ideally a play off position would be great, but anything above 9th is really steady progress under the circumstances we have seen. CL has come from Scotland, so his knowledge may be somewhat limited on how everything works here - he will need time and patience .. and NOT fans who expect the club to go up at the first attempt and for us to be in cup finals again... Keep the faith!
Guest Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 I disagree. Doesn't matter how vocal the supports is, or what the team looks like on paper, it's what happens on the pitch that gets you promoted, or relegated. We finished mid-table, and over the course of the season, that is a fair reflection.

surrifox Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 I've got no axe to grind with the Mackems or Wigan (I will have with Wan*y West Ham if they go up but that's a different story) who gained promotion by outstaying their rivals over a long season albeit with some strong competition at times from Ipswich. They were not certain of promotion until about the last 5 games or so. This season contrasts with our last promotion season when City and Portsmouth were virtually certain of promotion from March onwards if not earlier . While we deserve no better than lower mid table I hope that we don't come to rue a missed opportunity as the relegated sides this season are bound to make a strong challenge to get straight back and I expect the likes of Wolves , Leeds and the play-off losers all to be tough opposition next year .Fingers crossed

I think it could be a much more competitive league next season, with more quality in the top 10 generally. If West Ham go up, it will be a travesty.
Newcastle_Fox Posted 19 May 2005 Posted 19 May 2005 An excellent post superdaj. Like I said before we will hopefully be ton te, maybe play offs if we are lucky. We still have a crap side but it is getting better but dont expect miracles. Anything higher than mid table is a bonus!

Also you seem very upset about this and your only post being a very defensive one towards Sunderland does make me question your support? Are you a fox or a mackam 'pal' <_<

Blackwell seems like a whore when it comes to purchasing players. I know last season was for consolidating their position in the Championship, however, I don't think Blackwell has what it takes. If Bates brings someone else in, then you never know... I would personally love to see them langusihing in this division for years to come.

Maybe you could get an adult to help you.
