  1. I didn't think it was such a terrible decision. Offside should be as objective as possible and if a a player is standing directly in front of the GK I don't think as you say officials should really be debating whether the GK would get there or not.
  2. Everywhere I go I hear people hacking their guts up. It's like Dawn of the Dead on the morning tube. I've had colds and covid before but like you said it's now accompanied by stuff that I haven't experienced. Maybe the Russians have dropped something over England. Hope you get better and stay healthy!
  3. There are many things I like and dislike about living in Britain but I think the worst for me may be the weather and the fact I seem to be now constantly sick. Hope you get well soon.
  4. I think it's been the wettest six months in like the last 200 years so we're probably all a little vitamin d deficient at the moment. I have Swedish family and people there always take it. Hasn't stopped me from being sick almost constantly the last four months
  5. Strings on commentary!
  6. Norfolk ftw as always
  7. Just finished reading between two worlds - about the first puritan settlers in America. Explains a lot...
  8. I feel like it's the only thing that hasn't happened to me in the last four weeks so give it time.
  9. Coffee now tasting of cardboard which I guess suggests it was Covid. Totally ****ed my back up probably from the coughing and trying to DIY my bed to make my mucus drip better at night. Fun times!
  10. The quality is much better but I find football much less enjoyable. If it's described as "boring" I would guess that's a lot to do with the over saturation and hype in the media. But generally I agree when I watch lower league highlights now it is quite remarkable how much better they are on the ball than Prem teams of the 90s.
  11. I think American Evangelicals are baffling to most Christians.
  12. I haven't read much of Dawkins but I understand he believes religion to be at best delusion and at worse fanaticism, and likens bringing up children in a religion to child abuse. For him to then come out and basically say "well I quite like these Christian traditions and living in a Christian country" is absolutely hilarious and imo invalidates everything he has previously written.
  13. Just an awful person all round!
  14. Even Dawkins is starting to have some regrets... https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/restoring-america/faith-freedom-self-reliance/2947860/richard-dawkins-has-some-regrets/
  15. What I dislike about the criticism of Christianity in the UK firstly is that I find it very cowardly as, as others have pointed out, criticism of other faiths is seen as much more taboo. But also because it focuses (deliberately I think) very much on the theology and ignores religion as community, sense of belonging, tradition and a moral framework for individuals and communities. "Hurr durr sky fairy nonsense" really isn't an adequate argument when sitting in a country that for 1400 years has been Christian and whose society, traditions and beliefs have been hugely shaped by that. It also assumes when Christianity has gone away in the UK that void will be filled by something more enlightened, which I doubt.
  16. Welcome back! Hope you're doing well.
  17. Cummings' quotes in this piece are as incoherent as his tweets
  18. It's our Gatorade. The winning coach gets a Bovril shower when they win the FA Cup.
  19. Same here. What's more I've watched Leeds, Cov, Leeds, Bristol and score updates of the middlesbrough game at the same pub. Decided to walk in the park instead today.
  20. Would love one but I'm taking decongestants and I guess they don't mix well with alcohol. So mucusy and phlegmy. Getting sick on a holiday really sucks.

    Depression

I'm so sorry @FoxesDeb. I don't know what to say other than that I wish you and your family all the strength and love to get through this.
  22. 46.2% is not a majority. I believe 2021 was the first time it was under 50%. 20 years ago it was 71%.
  23. I find the hostility and ridicule towards Christianity in Britain quite dispiriting to be honest. Practising Christians are nowhere near a majority here.
