I would much prefer an English manager. Foreign managers of national teams always feels a bit weird. And definitely not German...

It's a relatively recent phenomenon and it's related to their attempts to brand themselves as a kind of English Barcelona - left-leaning and with their own strong regional identity. I do think at the same time there has been a rise in regional identity in England, perhaps because of increasing inequality between areas but also because of the constant problematising of English national identity in the press, and the snobbishness that surrounds that.

Nope. I don't think there's a definitive answer in the club vs country debate. I know some people who go a lot to England games and for them it'll probably be their 02/05/16. But for those of us that have followed LCFC home and away over the years, nothing will ever come close to that.

I generally like Scousers but they have a need to make everything about them.

It's not that varied though is it. Florida and Oregon as far apart as they are have the same language and an almost identical culture. Highlands of Scotland is probably more different from the south of England than Florida is to Oregon. If that's their 'diversity' then it's little wonder they're so parochial.
