yeah he was limited, did you see the last few tournaments we had, the games we've played the last couple of years? i honestly cant remember the last time ive watched an england game and said "wow, they played really well" the last good england performance on the whole is probably in euro 2020 against germany and you say Southgate wasnt limited but then bottled it, which sort of goes in the same ball park, Southgate showed he was limited cos he kept picking the same players and the same formation, we could all see it wasnt working but him; same with certain players, his blind loyalty to certain players as well. dont get me wrong Southgate did well in changing the culture etc but Ill still say Big Sam would have won one of the tournaments if he had still be in charge

if hes not a yes man as you say then im surprised hes even got the U21 job, cos the FA dont always appoint people who rattle the cages, and as you said he did take the U21s to win the euros; im still saying the jury is out tho and im not reading too much into the U21 cos some of the teams they play are honking and its hard to judge imo and you could say the bottom part about Southgate too, look how limited he was, its seems to be a step up compared to the U21s imo Pearce did better with the U21s than Southgate

if the FA had any balls, theyd go for either Tunchel, Klopp or Poch but suspect it will be Carsley as the FA love appointing Yes men and ones who dont rattle the cages

what gets me is the amount of scousers wanting spain to win, cant we brick liverpool off and cut them off from the uk also it felt like more liverpool fans compared to everton

tbf we played alright that tournament, this tournament we've been saved by individual brilliance more than anything, we've had like 50mins all tournament where england have looked good imo

didnt he say we havent had a midfielder like Adam Wharton in 7/8 yrs......he played 0 mins lets be honest Southgate got the job cos it fell in his lap, he did alright with the u21s(stuart pearce did better imo) think its plain to see Southgate is an incredibly limited manager, tactically hes woeful, kept playing the same tactics and formation hoping something will change, it needs a massive gutting, players, staff, 2 euro finals in a row, should have at least won 1

i wouldnt even call him that tbf, if hes good hes certainly on the lower end bordering on alright/average; he only got the job cos it fell into his lap so to speak with the whole big sam stuff, that game when we lost 4-0 at home to hungary showed it all really. hes been save by alot of individual brilliance if you really look at it, he's afraid to rattle the cages, keep playing the same players so much loyalty to the ones under performing yet again the likes of Gordon, Wharton, Eze, Watkins i believe would have done better than some starters, as a whole for me, this tournament needs to be a changing of the guard so to speak, Southgate needs to go and someone whos got the balls to actually drop players etc but its the FA, cant wait for a safe appointment

i do think the players are good enough, but its about picking the right team, not the individuals, look at us when we won the league, wasnt the best players but as a collective team they fit hand in glove something England havent gone, the team he picked felt wrong anyway with Kane and Foden in there, kane cant press for all the tea in china, and foden just dont look right at all in that formation, the best players dont always make the best team, and this tournament has shown that for a number of teams

he hasnt got the balls to drop certain players, like Foden, Kane and even Bellingham, the first 2 have been pretty woeful for the most part its amazing how much better england look with Watkins and Palmer in the team too, england need a refresh plain and simple, a manager who has the balls to drop players, tactically aware etc not afraid to rattle the cages, something Southgate hasnt done at all

kane better not be leading the line in 2 yrs time let alone 4

says it all really that, the FA dont want someone whos going to rock the boat, why southgate got the job in the first place its like the issue when England had lampard, gerrard and Scholes, trying to fit them all in even if its not going to work shown it this tournament with Foden, Kane, Trippier just cos they are good players dont mean its the right fit, we need a team who work well together no a team of square pegs in round holes

cos he hasnt got the balls too, think both of them would have done better than Bellingham and Foden in all honesty its hard to really praise too many of the england team, as frankly they been awful, only ones for me are Saka, Guehi, Palmer, Watkins and maybe Toney at a push rest have been stinking like Southgate playing the same 11 almost every single game, like a baby pushing a square cube in a round hole, hes not an elite coach, hes shown that, he might have a decent win % but hes failed to win a tournament when hes had the easiest runs to the finals and even then hes found a way to fudge that up

thing is, Southgate is stubborn to a fault, you could see it wasnt working with Foden in the team, but he still plays him, same with kane, the best players dont always make the best team, for me we look alot better with kane out of the team, he might have done "well" in some eyes but for me hes got a lot to answer for, playing a not match fit Kane every single game, I stand by the fact if we had big sam in charge we'd have won at least 1 of these finals

gonna be one of them days aint it

All respect to Kane, think this tournament has shown we need to give watkins or toney more of a run
