Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but IF Enzo was offered the Chelsea role he will take it. Of course he would. Anyone would. Club might be in turmoil and a bit of a joke, but he couldn’t lose there whereas he will lose here. We are currently more of a poisoned chalice than they are.

Wages will likely be an issue. Not going to a top Prem side, so will likely have to take a pay cut - except he’s out of contract and we would cut it too if he stayed. Good when he’s on it, poor when he’s not. Probably time for a new adventure. Thanks Wilf.

I’d also be having a good look at Zeno Debast. Sometimes I wonder what our scouting department actually do. There are some real quality players out there, reasonably priced and with exceptional high ceilings. Obviously not all will hit those heights, but they’ve got to be worth a punt.

To be honest I’d rather chuck all of that money on getting Baturina in. Move quickly and firmly and make it happen. There are other options for sure, but that sort of money for a 28/29 year old is wasting it. Not much growth potential, no resale value, dodgy legs. It’s a strong no from me - you listening Enzo, Crudders?

When all around you are playing possession based football surely a return to 15/16 style is key? It worked then, it worked against Southampton - it usually does work. Trying to fight possession with possession next season without the tools required will be a recipe for one thing.

It’s going to be tough. I feel we will be a weaker side in the Prem than we are right now. There just aren’t the finances there to bring in the strength we need. We have to get ourselves back on track financially and likely prepare for 25/26 back in the Championship. That would be the sensible course. However there is some dross in the Prem, we will be amongst that dross, and it is possible with some astute business to build a side capable of surviving. Either way it will be tough for fans and players alike. It’s going to be a bumpy ride I think with probably a few unforeseen twists and turns.

I think, if Enzo has any intelligence at all, he jumps ship before the start of next season. Some have mentioned Saville could be an option. His stock won’t get any higher with us and he now knows our financial position.

I enjoy when we try. When we put in a shift and go for the win. I don’t enjoy going through the motions for the sake of it. I played at a reasonable level. I lost matches but wanted to win every single one, even in training. Just cannot tolerate substandard performances. We’re up against it next season in a massive way. This was not the end we needed.

I switched off to be fair. Making a coffee. That performance was shambolic. I hope all the happy clappers enjoy the moment and keep smiling through what is to come.

No game is unimportant. You play to win. Even in training you play to win. You either have that mentality or you serve up this sort of toss. Yeah we’re up. We can discuss how you’re all feeling after a few games in the Prem - but I predict a riot.

Least we’re setting the tone early for next season.
