The two should not be mutually exclusive. There is a place and a time for both, often in the same game. Passing with intent is good. Possession can be good. Going direct and fast can be good. I think the best managers know this.

Premier League 24/25 Pre-season guff (misc talking points)

I’d prefer we got Leeds at home and absolutely smashed them. Ahh, ooh, forgot, this season doesn’t come with Leeds. Damn. -
17 or above this season is genuine success. Thats it and that alone will be a very tall order indeed.
-
Of course we try but both conditions are true.
-
So would a deluded one.

This is turning into an epic thread, but will it turn in to comedy or end tragically?
-
Rudkin just hasn’t sent Potter an owl yet. Fax machine is still broken.
-
That nobody else can. Amazing. Southgate is just a fraud so would likely fit right in at Man Ltd
-
I’ve got a scooby. Right fast in Sports sharp mode. Oooh.
-
You e talked me into it. Where do I apply?

Big changes when Man City win their case and completely scupper FFP to save their own skin - or so they think. People here will suddenly think our billionaire owner will pump in hundreds of millions, only to discover he’s not got a pot to piss in. Whoever comes the financial muscle we have will be gnat like at best.

Potter’s going need magic you know.
-
Was that before or after?
-
I’ve got a feeling it will be Potter who will be slithering in.
-
Would take Potter for sure but would be enormously surprised if he took us to be honest.
-
This is Foxestalk. Unhinged is what we do.
-
Are we to be Gollum’s new precious? Let’s be honest. Too will think hmm, ex Man Utd manager. Get him in.
-
Yeah, not a chance in hell we get Terzic. As my wife says, we’ll get some cnut.
-
Moyes is likely the most sensible appointment. But those running our club rarely do sensible. There is some argument that their managerial appointments have been fairly reasonable. Even Rodgers was good until he got his nuts caught in his Gucci belt. Puel pretty much built the team Todgers had such success with. Maresca got us up whilst admittedly boring the pants off many of us. They have done well really. So maybe we will get someone ‘quite’ good. My concern, though, is that we are seriously unattractive at the moment and whoever comes will have a mountain of shit to climb. Would Moyes be up for that? I doubt it. It limits our options but does not quite destroy them. We still have hope until Cooper is announced.
-
We have an obligation to buy him at the price already agreed. Do people not understand the world obligation?
-
Until it moves back again. Trouble is with youngsters they haven’t been around long enough to have seen tactics ebb and flow. Probably don’t know about total football.
-
Lone Pines I imagine. Great Scot.

Showing your age there, The Matrix is so last century.

Cooper would be sensible if uninspiring. Covers both bases of Prem and Championship. Might not be wow, but we’re not wow anymore.
-
Has he done one called ‘The Truth Hurts’. I imagine that would be right up his street.
