  1. Much better effort than "He's here..." Now I know the words I'll be joining in
  2. Were you singing this in L1 today, thought I heard something like this but couldn't make it out?
  3. Listened to this weeks show and I second that. Seems a reasonable bloke.
  4. Bloody hell, that's good news that is. That's what this is all about, getting facts in front of people who actually have a say about whether this can happen. We don't want to allow those with an axe to grind against standing have it all their way.
  5. That's later than the quotes on the FSF website, bit of a blow. Here's hoping the latest round of lobbying by FSF improves the political support
  6. First off I'm not politicking, they're all a shower IMO. I'd read on the FSF website that Alistair Campbell, Tony Blair and Kate Hoey had all been positive about safe standing which on the face of it does contradict that. If ou know different I'd be interested to hear that. The labour candidate in the recent police commissioner election had also been positive about safe standing.
  7. Despite all the evidence that the Police were responsible for directing too many fans in to that area of the ground irrespective of their ticketed area. But such details will get lost in the clamour to continue with the characterisation of a majority of fans as no different to the idiotic minority of the 80's. My hope is that enough political support will get a trail in place when the current government is replaced. Based on the ministers response to me recently it's highly unlikely he'll let it go through. So at least 4 years away surely? As has already been said, any incident (coin and pitch invader at Man City v Utd, keeper assualt at Weds vs Leeds) will be seized on and amplified as yet another reason why no concessions can be made to supporters wishing to stand.
  8. By the time of the Taylor report most fans were happily sitting at Filbert Street. Not sure what the actual ratio was but standing areas were the minority. This is not an "all or nothing" proposition. It's about changing the law to accurately reflect what is already happening at every match anyway and upgrading the infrastructure to suit the needs of that minority. The broad media reaction and club level support gives me more hope that we will see trials in the medium term. Definitely if there s a change in government at the next election.
  9. I had a similar episode earlier this year with a "not as described" chargeback. I was shocked how crap ebay and paypal were in sorting it. I will *never* touch ebay with a barge pole again.
  10. I had one of these today as well, courtesy of Andrew Robathan. Is there any concept of "national" policing - I thought it was really regional. Shame we didn't get the Labour candidate as our PCC, that's LCFC off the list of any safe standing trial clubs Letter also mentioned that the Sports Grounds Safety Authority is responsible for this issue and they will review the Safe Standing Roadshow video produced on a visit to Germany. I'm a bit more optimistic having read this letter, the door isn't open for safe standing to proceed but it hasn't been slammed shut just yet.
  11. Specialist media and relatively progressive papers. Can you really see the Sun doing an editorial that dismisses the opinions of the Hillsborough families. Predict that the Mail and Express will enjoy writing large the opinions of the families as well. Slagging off those dreadful hooligans at will. That's potentially a lot of voters for a government to piss off. I fear it's all too emotive for common sense to win the day. Good luck though to FSF etc, keep plugging away and maybe they'll actually understand what is being proposed rather than just rolling down the shutters and saying "no way".
  12. Brings back memories with that tune - Stevie Walsh's fvcked up knee - don't remember all the words but loved singing that!
  13. This is an emotive issue, right up there with fox hunting and I wasn't aware until today that the Hillsborough families opposed the re-introduction of any kind of standing in football grounds. That's a blow IMO towards the actual introduction of trials anywhere in England when their chairman declares herself "appalled" at the prospect. Standing trials are proper fvcked for a good couple of decades yet IMO.http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2012/10/27/chairman-of-hillsborough-family-support-group-margaret-aspinall-brands-campaign-for-standing-appalling-100252-32112983/
  14. Love that song, great idea
  15. Cheers, that's the one
  16. What's the first line to the Vardy chant I've heard recently? Can't quite pick it up...
  17. I'll join in if I hear it, like the achy-breaky Knockeart chant, joined in early doors when I heard those lads start it up. I even sang it in P2 last season when L1 had a go! (was it West Ham? Can't remember) (I'm too far down the front to start chants, only a few singers around me so you won't hear us at all)
  18. Roachmachine was another "realist". I'm sure they'll be back or others will fill the void if we get a dip in form, although I hope not (I'm an optimist after all )
  19. I was hiding, too many pessimists lurking, have they gone yet? Can I sit back down?
  20. Well impressed with the House of Commons stationary and hand signed letter from Andrew Robathan. Shame he's a minister and can't sign Early Day Motions. He did promise to confirm the government position so that's gonna be a "not interested" reply. So if you're in South Leicestershire, probably not worth it because our MP can't sign it.
  21. Done. I used www.writetothem.com following the tip on here which is a piece of p*ss. For the lazy, here's my letter to cut and paste into your own: I hope you will agree with me that we need some pilot trials for safe standing areas in premiership and championship football clubs. Most matches that I attended since 1994 have a small number of supporters who have chosen to stand in the seated areas without incident or bad behaviour. I believe that with appropriate management it can be a safe way to enjoy watching a football match. I hope you add your support to early day motion 573: http://www.parliament.uk/edm/2012-13/573 to support this pilot. Yours sincerely,
  22. Like it, hope it starts up at the KP...
  23. Great, the bus is back. Count me in foxhateram, hopefully we've some signings that could make all the difference for 2012/13
  24. Npower league roundup video gets me every time on thisisleicestershire sports pages
