  1. Clearly nonsense. You sound like you've barely travelled if that's what you think. I think everyone agrees with you that we need to encourage more city urban dwelling but losing .3-.8% of agricultural land for example is not some natural disaster you're implying.
  2. Of course. I think moving say .5% from 'undeveloped' agricultural land to 'developed' land isn't going to make a big difference. If we're moving anything away from agriculture though ideally it should be towards nature.
  3. What did nature or houses ever do for anyone?
  4. In England 8.7% is 'developed' land if you go with 'built on' it is about 2%. Obviously depends how you define things like built on doesn't count residential gardens or outdoor recreation. And developed land doesn't include agriculture. These rural industrial estates make up 62-72% of England's land use. Only about 15% is natural. We should utilise cities as much as possible but I think any notion that no land outside of cities should be developed on is farcical. Converting some agricultural land into 'developed' or mainly 'natural' land I think is a good thing
  5. She has literally ran the Tory play book from start to finish
  6. BBC News - Wallasea Island sees 39,000 birds ten years post Crossrail work - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cgex91yyg1qo?app-referrer=deep-link Really excellent rewilding project. Using the earthworks from the Elizabeth line construction is the kind of joined up thinking that we need more of in this country not just in terms of rewilding but in general.
  7. There's an argument to be made about reducing the welfare bill specially pensioner benefits universal credit benefits and disability benefits but I'm not sure the general public have the stomach for it. Maybe on UC
  8. https://www.reuters.com/sustainability/boards-policy-regulation/uk-cut-household-energy-bills-by-150-pounds-year-2025-11-26/ Adding a large proportion of green levies into general taxation definitely a smart move obviously makes it much more progressive.
  9. As much as I don't particularly like the budget I would argue she's actually shown politically at least that she's pretty competent. Financially the stock and bond markets seems to suggest she competent there too. She's left a larger headroom in the budget then last time She hasn't done what I would've done but to suggest she's incompetent seems hyperbole to me.
  10. I don't really want any tax rises. Who does? I was just complaining about the way politics does it to placate a short term thinking general populace
  11. Yes I'm fully aware it's a 'stealth tax'. I'd just prefer the more straight forward 'honesty' of raising income instead but the tik tok / twitter nature of the general population these days I don't think you can do it.
  12. I thought the budget had a very Phillip Hammond/George Osbourne('after' austerity feel) Lots of little bits and bobs here and there raising the tax. Think really if we are raising taxes would almost prefer them just to go ahead and raise income taxes rather then this. For a growth government don't think there's enough policy in for the growth at all. The markets reacting well to it is very good news though. Hopefully there's more confidence and in turn investment generated through it.
  13. Not in 2002/2003/2004 he didn't.
  14. Imo Schumacher early 2000s the gap was bigger than now.
  15. It's been over five years and still no compelling evidence of the election being stolen. Makes no sense Dems/Biden getting a spike in votes is not exactly a smoking barrell
  16. More Reform councillors suspended. These guys are supposed to be the 'only option' left. So we're either going to end up with a load of incompetent reform MPs that don't want to work and/or Tory defects as reform mps that are somehow an 'alternative' to the Tories https://www.kentonline.co.uk/kent/news/two-more-suspended-reform-uk-county-councillors-booted-out-o-332607/
  17. We needed growth from 2010 to 2020. That decade of decline is what ****ed us. Brexit and COVID added to it but the economy was terribly handled by the Lib Dems and mainly Tories. I'm not convinced by Labours attempted but I don't know what else they do now.
  18. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/steve-reed-government-landlords-ministry-of-housing-keir-starmer-b2864991.html Some seemingly/mostly good moves trying to help renters
  19. They are kinda stuck arent they. Not sure about you but I'm really not sure what the answer is. I guess it's either big tax rises or big cuts across to the welfare (Pensions,UC and Disability)
  20. I'm not a big fan of the Tories and never voted for them perhaps never will unless my political beliefs change as I get older but I do think the Tories did a good job trying to alter our power generation. The wind farms they managed to get built deserves praise. They didn't do enough with nuclear but at least they started the ground work. Labour do seemed to of stepped this up a notch but because the can got kicked down the road a few times in the 2000s and 2010s we are a bit behind now. Really hoping they ramp up these constructions even though seems unlikely at the minute
  21. BBC News - Wylfa nuclear power plant plans go ahead, creating Anglesey jobs - BBC News https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c051y3d7myzo Some good news regarding this. Government has just approved a SMR at Wylfa. Hopefully we can get a few more approved soon and on the way which would helped get away from gas.
  22. bUt ThE BbC iS fInIsHeD! I do think it was pretty poor of the BBC but jesus does the BBC live rent free in the rights head 😄
  23. I'm only 10 hours in but enjoying it so far. Combat definitely feels harder then the first. All the enemies tend to be much more aggressive and they you can get multiple enemies attacking at the same time with different weapons which is tricky. Boss battles are more punishing when you make mistakes. I'm not someone who is totally burnt out from open worlds but it does feel like they get the balance right with the checklist type stuff. There checklist stuff whilst basically being collectables has great vibes that fit in so well with the overall atmosphere of the game rather then collect 50 horseshoes like old GTA games.
  24. I think you could say the same for the vast majority of teams in this division tbh (not necessarily wingers but what ever their major attacking threat is). Only Middlesbrough and Coventry have been pretty good consistently and considering we were largely the better team against Coventry I think you have to say it's been a decent start.
  25. NHS should always looking to reform/change for efficiency and adapt especially now we have such an aging population. The can't keep throwing money at it argument doesn't wash with me though. There's never evidence to prove it true. Our administration costs of NHS is less then other similar size countries let alone full private healthcare countries like the USA which is horribly inefficient. Our problems for the last decade and more is lack of funding. We should be spending similar levels to France and Germany not substantially less
