Mate, he's been awful since after 2022 WorldCup. Yeah, he's had a few good games—fair play to him—but overall, he's been poor. Even in the Championship last season, the number of times this thread blew up because Faes was dreadful was a joke. We need to offload him if possible.

Faes is the better footballer; Souttar is the better defender. They're playing CB, not CM—I'd choose the latter any day of the week.

I have no idea why managers always seem to rate Faes over Souttar. One has the qualities you want in a CB; the other is Wout Faes.

Who said he wasn’t good technically? He’s decent, but it’s not his main strength by a long shot. His crossing to the back post can be frustrating, and for all his worldies and great attempts last season, so many went into orbit. It’s obvious that his main assets are physical. Take that out of his game, and he could hardly be described as a technician.

Physically, he’s unbelievably gifted. I can’t remember many players at the club with physical attributes that can match his. He’s rapid, explosive, jumps sky high, agile, and has great stamina. Technically, though, he can be a bit hit-or-miss.

Imo he’s better than Rütter who is essentially in your team ahead of him.

For me, that’s what separates him from being just a quality player to someone who could potentially be a world-beater. He gets called up to the world’s best international side, and it’s not surprising. At the moment, he’s our best player and he’s 19!!!

I might be a bit harsh on him, as he ended the first half quite well and had some fairly decent moments, but I don't think he's ready to start Premier League games. He needs to be much more intense defensively and take a leaf out of Buonanotte’s book. Some of the fans can stop insisting he starts games now, as that's twice he's started and twice he's not done great.
