The worry I have with Szmodics is that the season he has just had is very much not the norm for him I don't think we should be spending £10-15m+ on someone who will turn 29 next month as well - we have enough older and experienced players in the squad, we should be focusing on younger players

Concerns about the direction of the club
moore_94 replied to Lambert09's topic in Leicester City Forum
A shame because that looks to be the only way that there could be serious changes at the top and in the way the club is run -
Agent must've lowered his demands then (or they have found a dodgy way around it) Pretty sure the thing about him being in the UK post COPA is wrong as hasn't he already supposedly been to Rennes and then came back?
-
Going to make a terrible loan offer with an option to buy clause that they obviously wont use aren't they?
-
Nothing very close then seeing as he played today

At least he is recognising the lack of attacking desire we have had https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/augsburg-leicester-live-match-updates-9457321 "It was a test that we needed, it was a step up in game, there’s no doubt about that. They’re a good Bundesliga team and that’s the sort of competition we want to be playing now. "For all of the control we had in the game, I just feel, as a team, we need to show more desire to score a goal. To play with the ball like we did and get into the positions we did, it’s to create and score goals. That’s the purpose of our game. We want to be at the top end of the pitch, be exciting and be threatening, and the last two games I don’t feel like we’ve done that enough, truth be told. It’s not particularly an attacking thing, it’s a team thing. "The set-piece we conceded is never okay, but it’s something we can learn from. There’s the performance and the result, and we want to perform in a way to win games, but to do that, you have to have a toughness about you and a ruthlessness at both ends. The last two games, for all of the good positions we’ve got into, we’ve got to be more of a threat. "Also, duels, we know what’s coming in the Premier League, it’s a massive step up. In the end, when you’re in one-v-ones and you’re combatting, and you’re against your opponent, you’ve got to win more duels than you lose. I think that needs addressing as well. “The guys are really engaged, they’re working really hard every day, they’re really trying to take on the ideas. A lot of them are coming out, but the idea is to start scoring goals and stop conceding, and that will always be our idea. We needed a test. We want to win games in pre-season, but it’s never a disaster if you lose, as long as you take the lessons and it helps you get ready for the start of the season.”

Who do we reckon then? Ayew and Nelson? https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/match-reports/augsburg-leicester-live-match-updates-9457321 “We want to add players to the squad, particularly at the top end of the pitch. That’s what we’re trying to do. We were so close to getting a few in this week that haven’t quite worked out. So we’ll move onto the next ones. "We know where we want to strengthen, we know where we want to improve. If we can improve a starter in the team, we’ll do that, and we know we need to strengthen the competition in some places as well. "The step into the Premier League is a huge one. The guys who have been there before, including myself, we need to remind ourselves what’s coming. For the guys going up for the first time, we’re really trying to prepare them for how it feels. We’ll be working hard on the pitch. We’ll be working hard off the pitch to try to bring players in. Hopefully we’ll continue to improve and progress and be ready for that first game.”

Signing important starting eleven players earlier than 1-2 weeks before the season would be preferable.

3-1! Thorsteinsson scores a tap in at the back post after Leuven hit the bar and forced a good save from the Genk keeper
-
At least it looks like we will get a Nixon update on this tomorrow
-
3-0!! Leuven counter from a Genk corner, lovely run and finish from N'Dri *** ruled out for a foul in the build up, booooo Hilarious the Genk played gets caught slightly on the back of the ankle, was still a foul, then holds his shin
-
So many players getting forward on the counter
-
Literally perfect if Cooper wants us to carry on playing like this
-
Just for comparison... what about my boy Doughty?
-
Ball across the box is inches away from N'Dri being able to make it 3-0
-
2-0! Vlietinck scores, initially given as offside but VAR gives it! Leuven playing really well and deserve the lead
-
1-0! Maziz gives Leuven the lead

Said it in the Augsburg thread but the issue I have with this pre-season is not the results but the actual way we play Results tend to mean very little with regards to the upcoming season, but it does show the ideas and tactics that the manager is putting on his team Of course it could be quite different when we aren't going to be dominating possession in Prem games, but the tactical ideas I am seeing from Cooper today and in the previous game for us going forward have not impressed me at all Last pre-season in games and even when we lost 4-0 to Liverpool you could at least see the patterns of play and ideas in the team going forward and creating chances that we ended up seeing throughout the rest of the season, you could at least see a plan for getting the ball into goal scoring positions So far there is very little to nothing in our last couple of matches that makes me think we will create good chances or score goals Hopefully bringing in an actual creative midfielder and striker would make a big difference, but even then I would be apprehensive whether it would

Were we at least creating chances in those games that we lost though? We have lost the last 2 and created barely anything which is the issue, not the actual result Friendlies don't mean entirely nothing, at least with Enzo we saw patterns to our play and how we were going to create chances, so far we haven't really seen anything substantial -
