  1. Just the 2-3 yards off his line.
  2. They were shocking. Their shape in the first half was so narrow it made it easy for us to expose them down the flanks, especially on the left. However, our front 4 today would've given any team in this league a tough afternoon and you have to credit us for keeping our foot on their necks. That's the best Luke Shaw has played in the 10 role. We need to keep hold of Pennant. He's not contracted.
  3. It could've been 15. Some of the goals we scored today were superb, although it must be said that Berkhamsted were atrocious.
  4. England XI led by Dan Lincoln the Dorking Wanderers goalkeeper are the T10 European Champions. https://www.surinenglish.com/sport/england-beat-netherlands-win-european-cricket-championship-20231020235216-nt.html
  5. I’ve been Royston twice in the last 6 weeks. It’s a quaint town but very small. Hitchin isn’t far away and there’s a lot more to see and do. I’m fact, Hitchin is bloody lovely.
  6. He won Academy Player of the Year in 2014, was released a year later , and then suffered a serious knee injury which kept him out for 5 years. Now he's a versatile CDM/CB for Coalville.
  7. I wouldn't consider losing out on Tamworth on goal difference a failure. With 5 games to go it was Coalville's to lose and to blow it was hugley disappointing, but at the start of the season we would've settled for the potential of a home play-off final. Coalville have progressed in every season they've been in the Souther Central Prem. One of the key features of Coalville's success over the last few seasons has been due to the core of the squad remaining settled. It does appear that one or two may have overstayed their welcome, but if you were to sack Stevo now, I think this season would be a write-off. I agree with players being leggy at the end of the season. Perhaps we'll be stronger in the second half of the season with all the injuries we've had, but reinforcements in midfield are vital. I feel like we've got to beat Berkhamsted next week.
  8. There are voices of discontent amongst those that have been supporting for a while, but who would do a better job? He has a good record. It's just getting over the finishing line that seems to be an issue. I would stand by Stevo. I have no doubt once we have our injured players back that we have a top 5 squad, but we still need a CM. The biggest issue today in the second half was Luke Shaw in the 10. He didn't drop in to help JDC and Thanoj, or offer much going forward. Once everyone is fit, I'd like to see TP on the right, Gooch on the left and Wes York in the 10. Either that, or go to a back 3 with Robbo and 2 of Chambo/Berridge/Cook up front.
  9. We wasted a huge opportunity last season, and despite adding to an already talented squad, we look like getting nowhere near the heights of last season due to our paucity in defense, and dare I say, mental application to games. We also lack a box-to-box midfielder. We should be making the play-offs minimum with the players we have. The first half today was the best football we've played all season.
  10. It's the umpteenth time we've conceded 4 or more already this campaign. The most annoying aspect is I don't think we've lost to a side this season that would've been anyhwere close to our level last year. It's looking like it's going to be a long season.
  11. You'd imagine their management team have good contacts seeing as they're both ex-professionals. The recruitment and the way they play is reminiscent of Andy Whing's Banbury side from 21/22.
  12. I did. Consectuive game no. 116. If we beat Alvechurch in the Trophy or make the play-offs, I can reach 150 this season. It's 3 years tomorrow since I missed a game. We played some great football in the first 15 and scored some good goals with our first 3 attempts. We could've had more, but we managed the game well and TP was excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing Hitchin in daylight on Saturday.
  13. We also play them away in the league the following Saturday. At least one will be postponed due to weather.
  14. Dunno, he looks a bit like Billy Casper from Kes! I'm looking forward to tomorrow's game, but I'm also desperate for us to beat Royston the week after. We really owe them one. I've just watched Cookie's red card. It looks like he kicks there guy twice - one is like a mermaid style kick from the floor.
  15. Excellent news. We have a new midfielder. @filbertway Do you think he cut his own hair with that shiv he's holding?
  16. £600 p/w per player average for a squad of 20. I think a lot of the figures banded around are exaggerated.
  17. Coalville is still the cheapest in the league and the £1 increase was mainly to cover the rise in energy costs. Wages are increasing across the levels in non-league as the talent pool of failed academy players grows ever larger, but so is the spectator interest.
  18. Hitchin started an all ticket policy during the Lockdown restrictions and decided to keep it.
  19. I don't think he had any option for the red card. Cookie kicked him. Stamford were neat and tidy but didn't have much attacking threat. Coalville were unlucky to lose and Wes York hobbling at HT compounds the misery. We need another CM badly.
  20. I went to watch Barwell v Mickleover tonight. Finished 2-1 to Mickleover, but it could've been more comfortable. Mickleover look to be a very good outfit. Greaves and Barnes outwide offered a constant threat, but Ben Sault in the 10 was the pick of the bunch. They looked like they could score from anywhere and 2-1 flattered Barwell. Unless Mickleover lose players to a higher league they will win this division at a canter.
  21. Tendai got married last year and he missed a few games due to this. He played nearly 30 games, so he certainly wasn't short of minutes. I'd wager if Stamford hadn't been promoted he'd still be at Coalville, but I agree, he gave us more than Shaw has been providing for the last few months.
  22. I was stood next to her first half. She would've captured me berating the lino after we hit the post and he gave offside. Looking back it was the correct call from him!
  23. Yup, I think you're right, and I agree on Cookie too. Shawy hasn't offered us anything for a while. It'd be nice to see TP get more than 15/20 minutes. This time it looks as though Ilkeston have brought in some decent players.
  24. We're desperate for another midfielder who can keep hold of the ball and offer a goal threat. The man at Barwell would be ideal, but I don't think that's ever been a possibilty. We're also crying out for a target man if we keep punting it long. I think last night was about keeping it basic and trying to restore some confidence, and it worked. We started the game brightly but Redditch played a diamond that we didn't get to grips with. Had Leroy Lita been playing for them I dare say they would've won. We also missed Putty, who is one of the best players in the division. Still, it's a win and a clean sheet. Saturday's team will be interesting with Thanoj crocked again and Towers suspended.
  25. The fans at Scunny are fortunate to still have a team to support. They could've (and still could) follow the same fate as Macclesfield and Bury.
