Pre Match - Ipswich (H) Dec 13th 3pm

Ricardo passing quickly to JJ who knocks it into space where Fatawu is already running should be bread and butter in this league. Reid has already shown he knows where to be and find space in the box. Mav floats on the edge of the box and Ayew looks for scraps. Basics but sadly we have RNIB as the management team. -

They can’t help themselves sending it all the way back. The amount of times we have it near the corner flag or outside the box, all it takes is someone to actually cross quickly but it gets to Thomas and recycled. Ricardo is now useless and boring, Thomas useless and boring and JV the cause of the tempo. Any team just has to press JV, he panics and do his stupid roll and its chaos. All the shit Faes deservedly gets, it distracts it from this clown who is the main root of the dross on the pitch. There will be a lot of space today where the full backs bomb forwards with ease. We won’t exploit it, instead Ricardo will be slow and send it back to JV who has to pass to Ayew in the middle. -

Not only did he not react, he gave them extra help by weakening the midfield and stifling the attack by making Ayew the link. He didn’t change anything to give Bristol something think about, making them retreat 10 yards again. Wingers and full backs that don’t just stand still would be a great start. -
Pretty fair and obvious analysis for anyone with eyes. Only our manager and his team can’t see it. His team, including King must all be as oblivious and useless as Marti. Do the even watch the tapes back and go over the errors or what works well.
-
Speed the pass up out of the back, get the full backs to actually carry the ball, pass so the wingers are already running and also carry on running. Thats the only time Fatawu looks like a good player. Mav would be a lot better and likeable if he crossed the ball first time. The second half, Mav wasn’t even bothering to move with the ball, just stood still under no pressure and sent it backwards. What’s the point of setting them up for a mid block/counter when this team only send it backwards for JV to control. Get rid of JV and the tempo change happen naturally and the attacks will flow quicker like at the Derby game. Ayew will always Ayew it. zero use to this team. 3 weak managers got the same results and style of play from him. His goals per game at QPR shows that he can’t work out how to get his teams scoring more than once. He just isn’t very good at his job. If he could change he would have by now.
-
That’s fair enough. I feel the score line flattered us in the first half. Thomas was making no runs and offering help. It was a lot of JV trying to take over to control and piss around. Fatawu was crap until he remembered he can actually run with a ball that’s been passed in front on him. It was scrappy, like they didn’t know what to fully do, the Derby game seemed to flow. JJ seemed to be doing everything with only Reid looking like he knew what to do. Bristol had a few chances in the first half as well. I don’t think Hamza even looked at the half way line let alone crossed it. I can’t stand seeing Ayew play for us, let alone start. He couldn’t even be bothered to stick his foot out for a player walking right next to him.

The Derby game for Thomas was just one of those anomalies, like when you were younger and managed to pull a stunner in a club, no one can explain it and it doesn’t happen again. Him and JV cause so much chaos in defence, they can’t clear the ball or make tackles when they try and clear the ball. He didn’t offer any help at all yesterday. At the end of the game he got the ball out side the box with plenty of time to cross, didn’t do anything and then turned and passed it back. All a team has to do is press and they crumble, yet still want to piss around controlling the ball. Even Silko got a shot on target, more than Daka and Ayew can muster. Our team never presses, they give up 1m away and let them pass/cross. The opposition stop pressing once we have made an error. Bristol full backs had all the time in the world to cross and had 4 players most of the time in the box. We have Mav trying to do step overs and not crossing, Fatawu is just lazy and undisciplined, he really needs guidance. JJ had the ball on the wing after driving forwards and has 2 me on him, Fats stands behind him when he could’ve just ran into the space the was obvious JJ was waiting to do. Both our wingers are brain dead and greedy but can produce the goods when they run with the ball into space and cross quickly. -
But then that putting Daka on for a counter attacking style and having Ayew drop deeper negates the counter. Thats clear for everyone to see, apart from Marti. All it did was include another clown for JV to try and blast the ball to. I can’t understand how we played like the first half at Derby to then reset the next match, even though we all knew it would.
-
Maybe he needs to sit in the stands to work out what’s going on. I find it hard to believe the people around him can’t see or give advice unless they are at his level, useless. Surely Andy King has an idea or two about how to get a ball into the box and have players ready to receive it. I think the confidence thing is just noise, he’s putting players like Ayew in central roles and expecting him to do something time after time. Our good passages of play and open play goals over the last two games have been when he isn’t involved in them.
-
Correct assessment of him. It would’ve made sense bringing Daka on if Ayew was missing chance after chance and we needed fresh legs and perspective. Putting Daka in and expecting him to do something with the ball with his back to goal hasn’t worked once. He kept the same play but added Ayew’s negativity to a role that needs the opposite, a position that Reid has made for himself. Using him limited skills and speed to get others in the game and in the box to finish. This is all in the manager. He hasn’t improved any player, even above the basics the should be doing ie Skipp. Wingers who don’t like to cross, run into space or pass the ball doesn’t help. They need tasks drilled into the from the manager like Enzo did. Not this Sunday dad style letting the kids have McDonald’s and haribo so they like him.
-
Daka looked like he had never kicked a ball before but we all keep playing with his back to goal expecting him to suddenly be anle to control it. I have no sympathy for Marti as he’s bringing it on himself. He doesn’t have to play Daka, he could bite the bullet and play one of the youngsters or keep Ayew there. Even Silko got a shot on target. The problem with Ayew is he isn’t a team player and will stink out the play anywhere on the pitch because he can’t help himself. he just needs to goal hang and not get involved in any build up. Him and Mav both had a chance to cross quickly on the second half, of course they held onto the ball and pissed around. These are things the manager has to stamp out, Marti ignores the flaws and lets them get on with it.
-
It’s annoying as first half at Derby should’ve been a blueprint for the whole season, applying to teams that attack and sit back. He isn’t learning anything after every game. Fatawu running with the ball at defenders and crossing has worked once again, yet we stop trying Mav has gone back to being greedy and lazy and Thomas’ performance was obviously a fluke. Such a poor manager in every aspect. His in game management is no existent and made us even weaker as Bristol were getting momentum. Moving Reid to fill the role of JJ, dropping Auew deeper and brings Daka on is a new low in tactics. Reid is good for us in the 10, he wants to bring others into the game, occupies that area and then gets into the box. The opposite of Ayew. He always drifts into Mavs area, doesn’t pass the ball then makes no effort to help out.
-
True, but also the tactics are shit and the manager should be nowhere near the club too. They can share a taxi back to London. We need a leader to speak up about the problems on the pitch and the players faults. If he has spoken up he then needs to lead by example and offer a solution. Not add to the dross. We can’t rely on our “best” midfielder.

How is it so easy for Bristol to keep crossing and have players getting on the end and on target. -

I can’t stand Marti and his football, it’s even worse that he’s brought Ayew back into the team and playing him the whole game. -

Keeping Ayew on to do nothing other than not winning balls after diving. -

It’s so easy for Bristol to keep crossing into the box when you have players that want to cross and not greedy. -

Mav and then Ayew doing everything possible to not cross the ball when unmarked. So may brain dead and greedy players in this team. -

It’s not like Hamza is doing anything at RB. He seems to mark no one and then give up that space for them to attack. -

Ayew can’t be bothered to press or even stick his foot out to a player walking by. He only seems to bust a gut to make sure he gets in a position to not pass the ball. -

It’s so easy when he runs forwards with the ball to cross instead of cutting back to shoot or standing still.
