Bang average in England at a lower level than we're at might have something to do with it. Pony at several other clubs too but he's also done OK as well. I'd hope we could attract better and if he stays with you and succeeds that's great.

Who Nelson or Alves? Both were out for a small period but were available vs Blackburn for example.

Absolutely baffling from him. He used Nelson in a few games where there was something massively riding on us needing a result and he showed the confidence to pick him over Coady. Then we wrap up promotion and he ignores them, such a weirdo.

It's highly debatable whether Luke Thomas's development was hindered because he didn't go on loan before he did well with us. One thing we will definitely agree on is career progression is not linear for every player. Loans for players is hugely beneficial of course because playing games enables them to master their craft. But you also have to weigh that up with the quality of coaching and standards around them. Would Alves benefit from a year with a club like Swansea with likely a drop in both players around him but coaches than being with our 1st team? The way Enzo incorporated him and Nelson last season with everything the team did but without being picked regularly will have been deliberate. It's what Pep has done, although I'm not convinced Pep is as good at bringing through academy players as is made out. Anyway, I think there's a high chance we need go keep talent like Alves, Braybrooke and Nelson around as filling the 25 man squad is going to be tricky with finances the way they are. Exposing them could be a god send if they develop like many hope and expect.

Luke Thomas was arguably better with less 1st team football under his belt. Di not underestimate the fearlessness of youth.

What fans also need to realise is, Leicester, despite their impressive record of bringing through academy players, very few were overly technical players. Alves and Braybrooke have everything you'd want in a footballer. Excellent first touch, expansive passing range and composure. Alves has the skill and trickery seldom seen and Braybrooke for his size seems to be confident in running a midfield in the age groups he's played. We are now seeing the signs of the hard work through the age groups that fans like myself had been impatient previously to. I'm seeing a lot more technical ability which although doesn't guarantee success over more physical and athletic players, you tend to need to have both. These two will make it I'm convinced, fingers crossed they remain injury free.

He was also very good vs Wolves too. I think people get blindsided by the performances away at Fulham and Leeds where if I remember rightly he had a bit of a howler but let's have it right, the entire squad was all over the gaff.

First and foremost we need to get him on a new contract. Prior to his injury his obvious talent was there to see but even at U21 level the goals and assists weren't that frequent. However since he's come back even with a few injury setbacks it feels like he's scored and assisted most games he's played. Far too good for that level. He's our game changer next season.

Wouldn't surprise me if we haven't interviewed anyone yet. Are Top and Rudkin even in England?

I suppose the argument is that revenue has increased significantly since that limit was agreed and the desire is for no losses long term anyway. Hence the 85% ratio to revenue with it eventually dropping to 70%.

We're likely to be able to reduce that by £60m + on deductibles. So with Enzo's compensation and a large sale we might not be far away. All depends what the wage situation ended up being for 23/24.

It's certainly not an appointment that's going to please the majority. Whether he'd be a success here or a complete disaster like many fear would be highly debatable. There's never a guarantee with any manager. At best we are going to get a manager who's not got failures against his name but instead very little in the way of anything - see Maresca last season. Cooper's positives are his work in academies and with England, his development of young players which was also impressive at Swansea shouldn't be ignored. It's one of the main priorities I want to see in any manager we get. That's why I'm more keen on RvN or Johnny Heitinga than most would be given they're unproven. But what they have done is manage extremely prestigious academies and reserve teams and have a track record of bringing players through. Cooper's promotion at Forest was ridiculous, but then again have a look at any Championship team that went from the bottom to promotion and it's not as unheard of as something similar at the highest level. Both Roy Keane and Iain Dowie I think did the same and both turned out to be diabolical (they didn't have anywhere near the hard yards as a coach or manager as Cooper has though). His time in the PL at Forest is very poor IMO. I get it was a chaotic environment for him, the squad promotion barely existed so even putting aside the nonsense 30-40 players that signed across 2 summers, they were having to rebuild a squad and it's very complex and difficult and mistakes are made. It's the squad and the way they struggled in 2023/24 that bothers me. On paper the squad was much better and yet they were appalling under him. He did chop and change tactics in the 18 months in the Prem but he didn't land on a base that was consistent enough for him. So the jury is very much out on him at this level. We aren't the most stable of clubs right now either so it's neither an ideal gig for him and us. I'm not disgusted by this link, nor am I pleased. Someone likened him to Chris Wilder, which isn't perhaps as wild a (excuse the pun) comparison as you'd think. He did wonders in the lower leagues and actually used the momentum that 1st season in the Prem to massively over achieve but he's since been a very poor manager with other clubs.

He does its just the Plan B didn't actually work very well either when they got to the PL.

Are the EFL points deductions dished out in previous years harsher than what the PL/IC have done? I know the allowable losses maybe different but the amount over that, is it treated differently by the two? That'll be 480 points please our lord.

I wouldn't worry, we have the most passive and pathetic match going fan base in regards to tolerating under performance on and off the field.

There is that, as well as any potential fall out with the agent who represents Maresca and Corberan. Although he also represents Vardy so we'll have to dust ourselves down for those negotiations.

That's important to remember. There will always be candidates who put themselves forward (usually out of work) and are interviewed. We did this with Gerrard and Parker last summer, who both were desperate for the job. But if we also have our own 1-2 priority targets then it's unlikely they'll impress enough when interviewed to sway it. Cooper will have been interviewed and maybe has done enough to propel him to being the choice we go with. I do believe Corberan was/is the preferred choice though initially, but maybe there's not much in it and we'd rather save the £4m.
