  1. I know. It encourages people with strange interests to find other oddballs to validate them. Like Leicester City fans, for example.
  2. Yeah - and it's not just us of course. The recent baffling rise in things like racism suggest a pretty widespread increase in general stupidity. I blame social media, me. (In the voice of Neil Warnock).
  3. What you're saying is you'd LIKE us to be better than that. I agree. Bur I've noticed a worrying tendency towards witlessness in recent times among City fans. Hope it's a temporary blip, and we regain a bit of style, but I'm not holding my breath...
  4. Charlie Cooke?
  5. Harris, Webb, Houseman, Hudson
  6. Hmm... Think we start straying into slightly delusional territory here. In terms of population and demographics you can't really compare us to the Man Citys of this world. We're a great club who punch way above our weight these days. Long may it continue. I just don't think we do ourselves any favours when we start acting like big-time Charlies. Leicester isn't a big city, and never will be. Nothing wrong with that. Being 'big' means nothing - ask people in Birmingham or Sheffield - but it does mean there's a limit to this fan base growth I keep hearing about. Looking forward is a myth. Just enjoy the here and now.
  7. Being a top-half club, going for cups and the odd European jaunt is gravy for Leicester fans. Wanting to be a 'Top Six' club seems a strange ambition to me. A bit like wishing Leicester was a bigger city than Liverpool, Manchester or London. Our title win was so great mainly because we're NOT a big city club. We are what we are. Outsiders who are more than capable of landing the big boys a very satisfying smack in the gob. That's just fine with me, long may it continue.
  8. City Boys in Leicester indeed. The only thing he showed any aptitude for was being a grade A dick as I recall. When he was doing his Blair stuff I used to think 'well if that's the kind of twat who's running the country...etc etc' Quite liberating actually, to know the people in charge are basically idiots. As you may have gathered I didn't like the bloke. And God, was he sh*t at football!
  9. Yes I did, but it wasn't in Burnley. He went to City Boys with me late 60s/early 70s Always walked round with his Burnley scarf on playing the Northern rebel. But his dad was a doctor or something. Dead middle-class. Bit of a tw*t.
  10. Terry Neil?
  11. My old school-mate Alastair Campbell. Hopeless footballer incidentally.
  12. Peter Barnes?
  13. No - wasn't being sarky - didn't realise all that other stuff was going on...
  14. Blimey - a 7 year old watching telly. Proper old-school that!
  15. Other clubs must be looking at this and thinking 'What the hell are Leicester doing in there?' In addition two thoughts occur; If it ever happened you can bet we wouldn't be part of it It's never going to happen. Despite received opinion, there never was a time when money and football were not intimately related. And when chairmen were not looking to screw as much as possible from it. This old chestnut comes up every 2 or 3 years and has done throughput my (somewhat lengthy) recollection. Like flying cars or hotels on the moon, it's a vision of tomorrow by people of limited intelligence who think they're being all futuristic. It's a dumb idea - always has been - and does us absolutely no favours by being associated with it in any way.
  16. Good stuff - to be fair though, we used to have a massive pole in the middle of the Home dressing-room. But then Wasilewski left!
  17. Agreed - the club's hierarchy display a consistent cloth ear towards it. As with the Banks statue they often opt for doing nothing and opportunities for doing something interesting are missed. A corporate lack of imagination seems to characterise our club, unfortunately.
  18. Maybe something to do with ticketing arrangements etc. And cost. The Blue Army seems to turning into The Blue Rinse Army...
  19. Yeah - I'm kind of struck by our fans' age & placidity. I'm one of the old guard - ex-Koppite from the 60s onwards. Kind of agree there's a missing demographic. Our crowd seems to have aged/gentrified more than many. Kind of similar to a Tigers crowd these days. Odd...
  20. Ok mate - better leave it there then, before I say something daft!
  21. Agreed - one of the positive innovations in my (long) lifetime. Along with substitutes (still remember how it cost us in the 61 Final) and 3 pts for a win. Plenty of sh*t ones too though - all-seated stadiums the main offender.
  22. Loved him as a player, less so as a pundit, but he's better than many. Though that's not really saying much.
  23. It's difficult for people to accept it when something strange (Leicester winning the league, for example) happens. Especially ex-footballers, pundits and the like who tend to deal in received opinion. If you're looking for insight and original thought from the likes of Steve McMahon - well, maybe you're looking in the wrong place.
  24. Nice of you to be concerned. Don't think my point depends on which side of the ground empties quickest though. It's about football fans in general. It's a different crowd now than when I first went. Though admittedly that was a long, long time ago...
