Tune in on Tuesday, 7PM! I was 50% through my Danny Rohl version so I hope this one doesn't go tits up...

🇪🇸 MARTI PARTY 🇪🇸

Well there's an important distinction. I think many fans hear "possession football" and collectively groan, because they envisage laborious poassing back and forth between the centre backs. But the original Ajax / Barcelona 433 style is supposed to be about quick first time passing and player rotations to bamboozle the opposition and generate attacking opportunities. Something a bit like this:
-
Agreed. In our game at the King Power, which they won, I was extremely impressed by them. Their positional play off the ball for just a few months was honestly amazing, and the signs of a good coach. They also played in a way to allow us to have possession in areas they wanted us to have it in, and made it difficult for us to get going. The thing that impressed me the most with Enzo is that I saw the identity and patterns of play immediately. The players got it and were able to execute. Cifuentes was able to do the same. The big question mark is why did it go wrong this season? I know he was not backed fully by the board and this left him frustrated, but that could easily happen with our current board too. However, in my mind I am thinking of a Cruyff style 433 with Fatawu and Mavididi on the wings, rotating with Monga as the 10 and Ricardo as the Foxes version of Dani Alves. And it feels a bit naughty in a good way to think of such things! The only issue is the striker, but we will probably loan one in for the season. I don't think this guy is the next big thing in football. My preferred candidate was Carlos Cuesta, the new manager at Parma, who is 30 years old and was Arteta's assistant. But I think this is actually a good pick for our current squad and situation.

We saw it under King. By "default" this team wants to get hold of the ball and pass it around. Whether he plays 4231 / 433 / 3241 with inverted players I think he will be looking to move the ball fast on the ground with heavy rotations and triangles. Players that should do well under this sort of manager: Winks, Fatawu, Mavididi, Monga, Ricardo. Players who won't do so well: Daka, Ayew.
-
Prett reasonable appointment to be honest. Suits our squad and style of play. Not saying he will go this way, but imagine a classic Barcelona / Cruyff style 433 with Mavididi, Fatawu and Monga as the 10 all rotating... it would be exciting to watch and IMO very effective in the Championship.

Just throwing random darts at the board at this point. Absolute amateur hour.

The level between the Championship and Premier League is vastly different. We have a top 3 squad in this division. As of typing, we probably have the best! If Shakespeare was in charge of Leicester in the Championship with a squad like this, he would have pissed it. Tactically, you would think he will get found out from time to time. But will that really matter? In this division probably not that much. The obvious thing to do IS to hire someone who is more ready, that we can all agree with. But I think we have chosen the cheap route.
-
I think he will be appointed. No money to pay, we don't want to hire then fire and pay off someone else, and it takes the heat off the board early doors. IE the cowardly decision, which is the speciality for this board. He shouldn't get the job, but I think he will. The ideal scenario would be for him to stay as part of the coachign staff for a few more seasons and take over then. However, my opinion is that anyone in charge of our squad this season will make the playoffs, even with a points deduction. So even if King is appointed, we'd probably have a pretty decent season.

Take the goals away, his box-to-box play, tackling and postioning was really impressive. 16 years old! What a joke! -

It's preseason so we can't take too much from the result, but how can you not be impressed with Aluko, Page, Monga and Joseph in that second half? One of the best players in the first half was Ben Nelson! Exciting times if we embrace the young players.- 620 replies

Yep, we called it in the watchalong. First game is all about fitness, don't read too much into it. Golding looks quite good to me tough, standing in the right places and box crashing at the right times. Skipp.... lmao -
Clearly realised it’s a shitshow and wanted nothing to do with it. Smart guy.

Just wanted to say good luck for the years ahead. The way your club is being run is shocking and the fans do not deserve it. It's farcical that such owners can be allowed to come into the game and destroy famous institutions like Wednesday.

If you moneyball the signing it’s actually a no brainer, especially as Buonanotte and El Khannouss won’t be here. You could argue it blocks the pathway for others but it’s definitely a position we are short in. With a 46 game season, signing one of the best Championship players last year with over 25 goal contributions… well you can see why we’d be in for him.
-
All these players are being offered by their respective agents. You can probably guess the other clubs that will be in the race for the same players. If it comes down to wages… well Leicester City and sensible wages are not usually bedfellows!
-
Ha my thoughts exactly, though he did play supposedly play quite a few games in the 10 role for Blackburn this season.
-
For the Championship absolutely. The problem is that only Chido I would be confident would cut it it (eventually) in the Premier League. Josh Brownhill is a good example actually of a player that is too good for the Championship and maybe good enough for a lower placed Premier League team, but not any better than that. But that is the market we are shopping in nowadays. But that in itself is an issue, how do you catchup to Premier League teams without being able to spend Premier League money? The only way really is to develop young talent and buy under priced gems out there and hope that you can create a much better squad than what you paid for.

I've heard off the grapevine from a few people that because of a restricted budget, we are looking at free agents and loan with buy options. Josh Brownhill (free) Tyrhys Dolan (free) David Camo (loan + plus option) Chido Obi Martin (loan, no option) We can see in the coming days if any of this is true or if this is another "Scott Parker has been appointed" moment.
