Thought I'd try the Abbey Park 10k but that's sold out. Whoops -

Thanks folks. I was a tad disappointed as that's a fairly standard practice time for me and I usually hope to go a bit quicker in an actual event. Now I'm home it feels like I'm coming down with a cold, so there's my excuse for being disappointing -

54:28. Alright, but not great. Quite a twisty turny and up and downy course. Sorry to get so technical -
This reminds me of Wilko. I went there a few months before it collapsed, having not been for a while and I couldn't believe the state of it. Ridiculously, I did one of those "how did we do?" surveys on the receipt and I very helpfully told them how I thought they'd lost their way and about what used to make them great. This was as absurd as it was patronising, because of course it was completely f**ked by that point and there was no turning back. Last time I was in Asda it felt a lot like Wilko did

Leicester 10k tomorrow. First organised event I've taken part in apart from Park Runs since before the pandemic. Disproportionately excited about it for some reason -
LOLZ etc https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-stoke-staffordshire-68414524 Screw these guys sky high, in the strongest possible terms

I disagree with this, if I don't know who they are I just imagine what they look like and let me tell you some of them are AMAZING!!!
-
Sadly not, I asked if they had any but apparently it was all Tynt Meadow. I think Quintus is a limited edition, I may have missed out!
-
I'm hitting the Tynt Meadow after my wife got me some from the monks today
-
Met Police not taking any action against Dan Wootton which is a shame in some ways although whether this is quite the win conservative commentators are making out remains to be seen
-
What's great to see is that given the ever more eye watering financial implications of having an accident, everyone's driving much more carefully. LOLZ
-
I'm confident that if I got them then I'd earn the respect of young people that I've been really struggling to command

I've usually got no time for the grifting orange tw#t but quite tempted by the gold trainers TBF

What on the roads has annoyed you today?

Got to love being sat on the M69 for nearly an hour. In fairness to those clearing up the "multi vehicle crash", they did a good job, there was nothing left by the time they released the traffic again -
What's that, about a 250 mile round trip? Be careful with that because in the winter you're going to lose 25-30% of the stated range anyway so it's not always as simple as picking a car over whether it will theoretically do the distance. I think both cars support fast charging, so probably worth checking what's available charger wise on the route if it's going to be used regularly. Sainsbury's are putting in super quick chargers at some of their sites and 20 minutes on one of those is going to pretty much guarantee you've got the range whatever EV you have if you're just topping up. I agree on the looks of the IONIQ 5, it's like it's RoboCop's car or something although I appreciate it's not going to be to everyone's tastes

My mate has one and is very happy with it. I think the main reason he went for it is interior space. Like me he's over 6 ft, has two kids and tends to holiday in the UK so needs a big boot. This was one of the main reasons I went with my IONIQ 5. Whilst plenty quick enough for me it's not Tesla quick, and the boot probably isn't as big but the cabin is MASSIVE

I'm probably just having another of my malarial dreams again

(walks into spooky, empty room in abandoned house) It feels like something terrible happened here

Is that the one that runs roughly from the outside of your hip to the inside (?) of your knee? I'm no physio but I've helped ease some knee problems by massaging the heck out of the top/front of my legs, especially along that approximate diagonal line. They've never hurt when I run but when you get the old foam roller on them they're tender as anything and you think that's got to be causing issues

Road bending to your left? It's amazing how many people aren't able to negotiate a right hand bend -
Consciously tuck your left foot behind your right to avoid any unscheduled emergency stops and invoking blind terror in the poor woman behind you like I did on literally my second journey. Having it in a similar position to where it would rest when driving a manual is a bit risky, I think, at least to start with. I had the regenerative braking set to not quite the highest level to start with on the advice of the dealership, just to get used to it, but you can switch to the 1 pedal type driving soon enough

Leicester gets a Guardian Long Read! Interesting stuff, but I dare say some will have much stronger views and direct interest in this than I do: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2024/feb/08/unrest-leicester-muslim-hindu-revealed-britain-modi-india-2022

Well, it will be an option but if I were retiring now on what I've got it would be VERY finely balanced; with the safe withdrawal rate being only between 4 and 5%, the certainty of an annuity has a certain appeal. If rates aren't bad when I get there and my pot is big enough I'd consider doing a bit of both
-
Is it saying that? It's a bit of a mess of numbers in fairness and the descriptive terms, like all these things, are subjective. I'm on course to get the "average" pension pot quite a few years ahead of retirement but if I look at what that would actually buy me pension wise it's difficult to get excited
