Tired cliché that it is and I'm sure everybody would see this as a tragedy, it is weird how you respond to things like this when you become a parent yourself. I was only vaguely aware of them being unaccounted for, and then you see the update and it proper gets you in the stomach. Awful news

It's sometimes a lonely one but it's the path we've chosen

I didn't even realise it got made! I vaguely remember it being talked about. Obviously the Americans CAN make amazing comedy but their track record of taking British shows and remaking them isn't amazing. Have you seen it? If so, any good?

Murder in Successville quietly sneaked back on the iPlayer. One of the stupidest things I've ever seen, I love it

What are you reading at the moment?

Just finished the audiobook of Alan Partridge Big Beacon. Fantastic. It must have been a joy to write, and I imagine writes itself after a while, the character being so fully formed that you would know how he would act in pretty much any situation you could come up with. I'm not especially into audiobooks, but hearing it in Alan's voice just makes it perfect -
Foxy Peter is owned by no-one, certainly no mere man

Just bought a Henry Hoover. Didn't realise you can opt to unclip his delightful, jolly little face, and perhaps even discard it completely, and use the unit without it. Anyone that chooses to do so belongs in this thread IMHO. "Oh you've got one of those charming Henry vacuum cleaners, they're so cute aren't they OH MY GOD IT DOESN'T HAVE A FACE WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO IT YOU MONSTER" etc (date ends)

I mean, just look at it. A fourteen year loving relationship is one thing, but this is quite another: https://casecompany.world/c/wolf-dreamcatcher/xiaomi-redmi-note-12-pro-plus-transparent-case/1246/590 Not just a wolf, but a wolf dreamcatcher. What do you mean you're taking my wife's side now??
-
So I go off and marry my friend that bought me the Tunnocks? The solution has been staring me in the face* all along! *metaphorically, she lives in Glasgow so this would be impractical
-
Ultimately she's just trying to protect me from myself, one of the things that make her a good wife (other things include excellent roast potatoes and being a confident driver).
-
Just been looking at phone cases with pictures of wolves on, like Napoleon Dynamite would have but my wife won't let me get one

Well I'm not sure what happened there, but they cut the price to £319 in the Black Friday sale, which I was happy with (no deal on Amazon yet), then when I tried to apply all the discount codes at checkout that were supposedly on offer, I somehow got it down to £254. There must be a Chinese secret agent that REALLY thinks I'm a cool guy!!!

It's pretty much my job and a responsibility I take incredibly seriously

But the Tunnocks Teacake contains a generous helping of proper, gooey but creamy egg mallow - its defining feature that makes it uniquely delicious, and also easy to detect on the face enabling me to identify which £#&ing £#@*er ate the last one. The filling of a Wagon Wheel is a bad example of that really synthetic, semi solid mallow used in inferior brands of teacake and could just as easily be put to use insulating the roof of an extension. It's not for eating but in fairness you've not claimed that it is. The other disadvantage of the Wagon Wheel is that it's virtually impossible to eat one without somebody saying that they used to be a lot bigger, leading me to agree and claim that I can remember when they were the size of actual wagon wheels - about 48 inches - taking the conversation in an entirely pointless and unwanted direction

If you're still in the Glasgow area, simply play this loudly with the windows down and soon everyone will definitely be your friend
-
It's great that someone has taken this on, because if I were to have a concern about the Tunnocks Teacake it would be if there are enough calories in it
-
Very popular in the Middle-East, apparently, no doubt because the delicious egg mallow makes them Halal. Hurray for Tunnocks! You could make your own of course: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chocolate_marshmallow_60410/amp I jest, of course. Twenty stages! F*** that sky high, Paul Hollywood

There are blokes in foxholes near Kherson going "they voted WHAT?"
-
Can I have a bit of time to think about that?
-
I've got a friend who lives near the Tunnocks factory and when I got married she sent me a box of teacakes - not the usual 8 or 10, this is a big box with about 50 in - and that remains one of the best days of my life, up there with the brewery tour if I'm honest

You think all major issues have been addressed and then you realise we've barely scratched the surface

I was saying in the mobile phone thread that the Chinese Secret Service don't seem to have taken much interest in me despite their presumably unfettered access to my darkest secrets via my Xiaomi phone, but I'm sure that would change if I said that Tunnocks Teacakes are anything other than superior to most foodstuffs, let alone other Tunnocks products. I enjoy a Caramel Wafer for sure, but Chinese Secret Service or not, if I said I preferred them to the Teacakes I'd be expecting to find myself on some sort of list

Well you're not alone there. I think it's probably a good idea to accept a bit of something different every now and then just to keep the old brain cells ticking over. I don't want to be like my old folks who's world is turned upside down whenever there's a Windows update on their laptop. The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus is looking favourite for me at the minute. It was a bit overpriced when it came out but is already down to £350 on Amazon and that's before their Black Friday has started. They normally do pretty heavy discounts on Xiaomi stuff so I reckon I could get that for 300ish. 120w charging! Bonkers

Having forked out the equivalent of £17 a month over the three years including the cost of the SIM I think I'll stretch to a new one! Also want to keep the current one as a spare, as there's still a bit of life left in it The 13T looks good but it's a range or two above what I want - upper midrange/lower flagship territory where I think pretty much all phones have done away with the jack. The Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus seems to be about the best phone you can get with a jack on it, but although there's a bit of money off it at the minute I'm wondering whether it might get a bit cheaper come Black Friday proper as it's still a bit more than I want to spend ideally

I've seen reviews, they look crazy but pretty cool. What have you needed to get used to?
