Give Gabriel a yellow as well.

Because as good as all these youth players may end up being, they aren’t there yet and it makes no sense to impair their growth, as they still need to get there with help from the training team and inevitably the senior pro’s match day experience (this doesn’t mean they will become slow like Vesty or terrifying like Faes
-
Would love to think Marti is doing what Enzo did and getting the senior pro’s on side first, before slotting the youth in as the season goes on. Not sure I believe it mind, but I hope.
-
So have less chance of winning games in the short term to win more longer term? Sound sensible May need to draft in a more patient fan base first.
-
Perhaps, but integrating now could be viewed as too soon, however would concur that we should expect to see it as the season goes on (We are only 7 games in)
-
He sure is a handful though
-
Villa looking fragile
-
Eventually, yes they do. No question. They need to be integrated as the season progresses.

Agree. Three positives so far. in the play off spots defensively we look poor individually, but somehow tighter as a unit patterns of play are beginning to show Cannot comprehend why anyone thought this would be a quick fix, if people are convinced (with reason) that some of the old farts and garbage needs clearing out, then this needs to happen when there is interest or the contracts are run down enough to get an easier sale. Then some will say ‘Just play X from youth and we will be fine’ which is ridiculous, as it is a short term answer at best, because if they do well they will be snapped up next window. We need to build this clearing slowly and sensibly, with savvy recruiting whilst pruning the deadwood when/where possible. Give him time.
-
If they are part of a statistically decent defence, it must help. Suppose the one other consideration, and this is something Enzo mentioned, getting the seniors onside first was important. If Marti is of a similar mind, maybe we will start to see more youth over the second half/three quarters of the season?

And that makes sense, the question becomes why would the club choose to operate in this way? Assume either the club do not belive Nelson is good enough, this seeming unlikely with his squad inclusion, or as mentioned it relates to asset value maximising, which is a footballing term we all love to hear. Or it's something else...
-
So you think we are deliberately undermining what would be in our best interests? Seems rather unlikely no?
-
No answer found on here is going to sate the fury evident in this thread, no idea why he isn't playing more. There could be reasons we don't know that could justify his lack of game time, and you would certainly hope they are more reasonable than Marti not fancying him, which would make zero sense.
-
Sounds like we need more BDCR.
-
Don’t understand it either tbh. Feels almost like something has happened, but I am not going down conspiracy rabbit hole.
-
We have nobody else, and if the mgmt team decide despite these errors, Faes is still preferable to whoever else we have, then what should we do? Play what they believe is a lesser player in Nelson? Or continue with the two and hope to build a better partnership? No good answers.
-
Fair enough. Have not seen enough evidence to suggest he should this season but would be delighted if he did show it. The trouble is that fans are reactive to mistakes evidenced on the pitch, with work not evident due to be given assumed to be faultless. Don't play, good job. Do play, another mistake, bin. Very much of the opinion that this is not the finished squad, it's just where we were able to get to start a late start and minimal transfer activity. I hope we progress as windows go by and that Ben remains here and partners a new CB, either internally found or acquired via the market.
-
And then Monga on the left I assume? Better to shy away from changing up top and add mobility behind in JJ.
-
So comes in ahead of everyone else based on last season, rather than how he is performing this season?
-
Don't get me wrong, want him to break through. Just cannot see another he gets in beyond as a replacement in the short term.
-
Well this is where Marti needs to slowly integrate him back into the starting XI via sub appearances, if he is felt of sufficient quality to warrant it.
-
Such an uptick in performances would be most welcome I agree.
-
Do you not see that your logic is only irrefutable not because it's right but because it cannot be disproved evidentially? ( Whereas it is a super easy to say those that play are poor after every less than perfect outing. This cannot mean we must therefore play what is adjudged to be a currently lesser player in that position. These younger players are the future 100% but that does not mean it need to be more if they are not yet up to the requisite standard. The exit of the Crap Cup is a pain as it further reduces chances.
-
Not sure either of those were ever expected to be large scale goal contributors tbh.
-
Of course he is allowed to. He will make mistakes and that happens. But why do we think he is not in the team because of that? He is (I hope) not playing because he it is felt in training that he is not the best partnership, and will be allowed to try again when the opportunity arises; either through making him a strong choice in training, injury or shocking form within the current partnership. I don’t even count Faes’ cock ups as strong enough reasons, that’s just the sort of that twatty defender he is.
