Three 3 and outs in a row for the Niners. Feels like the tide has turned. Need a big play from somewhere.
-
All this talk tonight about the "Middle 8" - and 2 mistakes like that blow it wide apart!!! Come on - another TD here will really give them a hole to get out of.
-
Liquid option for me . But I'm pacing myself... still on just the 2nd of those bottles of Forty Niner...
-
Big stop there to keep them out the endzone. Now for the painfully long half time break
-
$23bn bet on this game - doubt much of that went on Jauan Jennings throwing the first touchdown pass!
-
What a play!!!! Get in!!!
-
Chiefs really making a mess of this... just need the Niners to start capitalizing.

Points on the board finally. Really pleased for Moody - Niners took a lot of flack for taking a kicker so high in the draft, so pressure on every kick he takes as a rookie - he's missed a couple: potential game winner in Cleveland and a couple near the end of the season including a PAT (despite actually breaking the record for consecutive PATs) - but to make that 55 yarder in the Superbowl shows real composure.

Been watching on DAZN all year, but my internet box broke yesterday, so am having to do ITV... My lad has been watching Red Bull Soap Box races on repeat all week long with Darren Fletcher commentating and laughing at the competitors. Its not really creating the right mood having to listen to him!

Most the pundits are picking KC and based on their Superbowl experience, the respective form in the playoffs and last year's head to head meeting its difficult to see past that. What gives me hope is: 1) Chiefs did get blown out by the Bucs when I couldn't see past a Chiefs win. 2) Niners struggles this year have been against weaker teams when expected to win. The real big games against the Cowboys and Eagles were where the Niners have really excelled and blown them away. 3) They have a real big chip on their shoulder after that last Superbowl. So big win incoming!?!

I can't even do devil's advocate well! But agree - the stats on progressive passes and passes in the final third are a much better indicator that pure %, and Winks is very impressive in that metric.
-
What a load of nonsense. Who cares if you can keep possession and complete a high % of passes fannying around at the back. In 2015/16, we averaged 42.4% possession and were 2nd lowest in the League in passing %. Yet we won the league with our no nonsense "get it forward" approach. Enzo could learn a thing or 2 from another Italian... (I am joking, but I do think a % north of 90% does say more about playing the easy ball than trying to beat the opposition, so don't necessarily think its a metric that should be lauded too much for a midfielder).

I haven't got a gash to be frothing at, but my avatar's been updated for the occasion, and I'm well stocked!!! GO NINERS!!!

He's very well hidden in the crowd: But if he's difficult to find, maybe he should be the replacement for Wally! I do think we need a jumping Martin O'Neill in a black tracksuit on the sideline: And the ref from Coventry away in 1999 would grace any pitch with his silky skills! y2mate.com - ref falls over trying to do a trick_1080p.mp4

Updated it for you...

I pay £1 a month for The Athletic. Been that rate for over a year and they haven't caught up with me yet... So £3 a month seems high for this in comparison, considering the quality. I do enjoy The Athletic, but mainly for the 49ers and Giants NFL/MLB stuff. For Leicester, Rob usually posts once a week or so with a different take on a story connected to the game. Its usually a good article, but given that volume, I wouldn't recommend subscribing from a purely Leicester City perspective.

We never won an away game in this beauty either, but that doesn't stop it being the perfect follow on from this season... (can't find original post to give credit to who posted originally)

All 8 head coaching jobs now filled: Brian Callahan (Tennessee Titans) Dave Canales (Carolina Panthers) Jim Harbaugh (Los Angeles Chargers) Mike Macdonald (Seattle Seahawks) Jerod Mayo (New England Patriots) Raheem Morris (Atlanta Falcons) Antonio Pierce (Las Vegas Raiders) Dan Quinn (Washington Commanders) (No coaches from the Niners this year after Ryans, McDaniel and Saleh in the last couple... although they did lose assistant GM Adam Peters to Washington) Biggest story is that nobody went in for Belichick or Vrabel. 2 biggest names, but likely wanted too much control.

I disagree - we are building the foundation of how to play. It will grow from there. Pep has talked about his next evolution being working out cleverer ways to attack. Similar to chess - every grandmaster uses the same set of openings, but its in the middle game they look to make the difference. This style of play is not one size fits all. But the fact is we are not only having one of our best seasons ever - we are having one of the greatest English league seasons ever. And not being enthused by it, blaming it on the opposition, and worrying about it not being good enough for the future is a really sad way to view it.

I've not got all the way through this thread, but when people talk about unrealistic expectations and a sense of entitlement, this is it. This is complaining that doing only the same as the top level teams in world is not good enough - we need to be creating a style of play that is better than them and a style that means weaker players will beat better players! And one that is flamboyant while we're at it! This sort of thing happens so rarely - it happened with the Hungarian teams exposing England in the 1950s, the likes of the Graham Taylor the long ball revolution upsetting the elite, the tiki-taka of Barcelona and Spain, and dare I say it, on a more temporary basis, our counter-attacking 15/16 team that was such an antidote to possession football. It might be that as a club in the last 10 years, we have watched with our own eyes our club upsetting the elite that we think we have a right to expect it to happen again. But come on - we are a club with a (virtually) rookie manager in the second tier - we're on historic pace, and as fans, we should back him and what he is doing without audibly complaining about players following his instructions, or expecting him to go down as one of the most innovative coaches in history.

Well that was a f*****g great second half. Went to bed at half time not seeing any possibility of a comeback, but Dazn showing the Niners next game as the Superbowl & a glimpse of Purdy holding the NFC trophy on a TV spoilt the enjoyment comeback to some degree! Difference for me was those 2 4th down calls by Campbell. Live by the sword, die by the sword, but to give up 3 points twice when the range is more than a brotherly shove away was reckless. The first instance, when they were 14 up and could have made it a 3 score game was the moment the momentum shifted. I understand having an identity, but you have to know you need to override it when the game situation demands.
-
Well that was a s**t first half.
-
I wish that was the case! Chiefs were awful for a period in the 2nd half of the season, but suddenly hit their stride when they needed to. I want the Niners to get revenge so badly, but would not read too much into a 2nd half in the rain with a 10 point lead. Of course... not underestimating the Lions either... Here we go!!!

Now or never for Baltimore.

Everyone wants a home draw in the cup? Out of the 10 4th round games played so far, there has only been 1 home team that has won....
