Match-worn and player-issue shirts have been personally signed by the individual player

Lots of love for Nelson on their forum after Oxford's draw with WBA yesterday. Seems he's established himself as part of the starting line up. https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/19-10-24-championship-oufc-v-west-bromwich-albion.11478/page-13#post-921468 https://yellowsforum.co.uk/threads/ben-nelson.11211/page-2 There's a poster on there named Eric Blair - not one of your alter egos @Ric Flair ?

To develop into a Premiership quality CB Nelson needs game time, not to sit around providing 'cover'.

You're not wrong re. why our productivity is so bad. There are so many overpaid brown nosing bullshitters who get listened to and promoted over people who actually know what they're doing. This is down to the vanity and greed of those at the top. The ones who know what they're doing eventually think 'whatever' and generally if they're over 50, retire if they can afford it or quietly quit until they can, or if they're under 50, leave for a new job (and probably rinse and repeat). A large proportion of 50-65 year olds are pissed off and/or disengaged with work and it's a massive problem.

Subbed off at half time - clean sheet at that point I think.
-
Good to see Nelson seems to have cemented his place in the Oxford side ahead of the international break where he heads off with England Elite squad (u20s).
-
They've had a good start to the season and their existing defenders have barely put a foot wrong. It's hard to break in under those circumstances. If LCFC hadn't waited till the very last minute to let him go it might be a different story by now.

Shame he wasn't part of the group who went on loan this season. At 20 he needs men's football. -
England Elite last night v. Turkey 1-1 Will Alves 90 minutes Ben Nelson 90 minutes Sammy Braybrooke unused sub Turkey's goal was a penalty for handball and they had the upper hand for most of the first half. England better in the second. Alves had a couple of attempts on goal. Nelson started the move for England's equaliser. Shame Sammy didn't get on. Next match is against Romania in Stockport on Tuesday.

A lack of loan offers isn't the problem. -

Yep. If you were them or their parents would you feel positively about their prospects seeing the way Alves, Braybrooke and even Nelson are having their progress stalled? No, or no significant, game time but being held back from loans. There have been good Championship loan offers missed out on because Cooper 'wants bodies'. Criminal. -
Concerns about the direction of the club
Fox on the Rox replied to Lambert09's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm sure Nelson regularly played on the left on loan at Doncaster (being largely two footed) and I think he's more rapid than his running style (and long legs) makes him appear. But by bringing in Okoli and not even releasing Nelson to go on loan the club aren't sending a good message about the priority they give to developing their young players. Nelson signed a new deal till 2027. If I were Alves I'd be thinking seriously about whether it's a good idea to follow suit. -
Saturday 3 August v FC Augsburg pre-season friendly

Probably doing his best to make himself 5th choice and get allowed out on loan if he's got any sense! -
I want to see an academy player in the first team
Fox on the Rox replied to majaco's topic in Leicester City Forum
True but slightly misleading. Nelson had one season on loan with 25 appearances (at two different clubs) in 22/23 and a few LCFC first team cup and league appearances in 23/24. Braybrooke and Alves each have one LCFC first team cup appearance in 22/23. I'm sure Braybrooke and Alves will get more experience in 24/25 but Nelson is well ahead in experience terms because of the injuries the other two suffered. (And Alves is a year younger). -
Both are part of the England u20 set up I think.
-
Looks like Nelson was wearing the captain's arm band by the end of the match.
-
Was just coming on to say Alves and Nelson started for England Elite (formerly u20s) and Alves scored in the first half.
-
His face when Nelson hits the target for the third time 😬

And Nelson who actually played in the league. -
It's an odd one because it replaces u20s but it's for players born between 1 January 2002 and 31 December 2004. So players can be aged up to 22 years. (Nelson was born in 2004). So it's not a like for like replacement.

If you were doing well for the U21 or an 18 y o in the U18, would you feel a bit undervalued by that in this age of SM ?? - Yes, for sure.
