  1. The main difference is that a lot of older people still feel a responsibility and make financial contributions to their adult children and young grandchildren and are fully aware of the difficulties faced by them.
  2. Perhaps it should be like serving on a jury 18-75. Of course controversial suggestion. Bottom line for me is 16 and 17 are children still
  3. That is is a problem with the voting public is no doubt true but I don't see extending the problem helps.
  4. I just think 18 is about the right benchmark to be classed as adult enough to vote. Shame there isn't a better way but including more impressionable youngsters doesn't seem right to me
  5. I understand the percentage of 16 and 17 age group working is quite low
  6. Soldiers would not be in combat till 18
  7. I wonder how much thought the average 16 year old gives to the subject of funding adult social care or council tax for example or should defence spending be increased
  8. Not a fan either. From what I understand the vast majority of 16-17 year olds are not in full time work anyway. I'm sure there are some engaged mature people in this age group but not not enough to warrant the vote
  9. Genuinely moved by your reply. You are right about the pension and medal. I used to say I wouldn't have done her job for a grand a week. I couldn't have done it anyway. I was lucky enough to meet some of her clients and colleagues. The wonderful things they said about her made me so proud.
  10. Well done that young man. The moron who did the graffiti would be too thick to understand what the fuss was about
  11. Yes. For too long carers have been undervalued. My wife worked as a care assistant looking after the elderly for 27 years
  12. People that graffiti trains and other property that does not belong to them or have permission
  13. Old people receiving personal care are very vulnerable. Communication is vital so being able to speak English is a basic requirement rather than being UK born. Also being able to understand instructions in training etc.
  14. Any news on a new goalkeeper coach ? (No Danny Ward jokes please)
  15. Not sure if already mentioned but Henry Winter very positive about Marti.
  16. Only a problem if England and the English get the all the blame for the bad stuff
  17. I suppose a lot of people in other nations do not always know that Great Britain is not just England and the English
  18. If we are talking about the British Empire then plenty of non English prominent military and political leaders
  19. I think you have summed up how I feel too.
  20. Who was the fascist involved?
  21. It would seem a lot of the people you mention are out of step with a lot of the public.
  22. Be very interesting to know the full facts
  23. Did it happen or not ?
  24. Is this an example of those in authority being fearful of celebrating anything British and self loathing.
