You're not the only one, I do the same since xG was introduced. I love statistics in general, I understand xG can be useful in some occasions but I don't think it's as important as they make it to be. If I want to get involved into these analytics I just play Football Manager where the coding and stats play a major role by default and you're "fighting" against algorithms with a dose of RNG. At the end of the game you win, lose, draw and you need to improve on the pitch or change players. Soumare won't improve our xG chances unless he suddenly becomes Kante. McAteer won't improve our xG unless he becomes Mahrez.
