Very valid point. Potential wishful thinking but also the sentiment on here less than a week ago that we’d fetch up to 20m for him? There were a fair few posts saying he’s our best CB, a Belgian international etc etc
-
How long does he have left on his contract? Surely we’d get 8/10m for him next summer if/when we get relegated?
-
Ayew? I can’t stand Rudkin/Top or anyone that I’ve missed who have been the stewards of complete mis-management for numerous years now.
-
January is notoriously a difficult window to buy players. Add that Rudkin can’t negotiate a decent fee - we’ve overpaid for Ayew (still wouldn’t have got him when signed Reid) and Skipp…..Okoli is a bizarre signing. I despise our board/senior management so much right now.
-
This would have to be the easiest and most boring signing of a pretty poor transfer window. If he comes in on loan (can’t be a £30m obligation like Ipswich appear to have with Broja) then there are worse as back up options but like countless others have stated….how horribly misguided are we? All we needed was a quality striker, KDH replacement and a LB with a couple of exciting prospects thrown in (Facundo a prime example) we’ve seem to not had that memo and gone for everything else.
-
Cooper’s just trying to trump Brendan’s “they can’t score if don’t have the ball” with “they can’t score if we have an endless amount of free kicks”. Call it the Ayew and Bilal masterclass 😎
-
A balanced post but do think that people forget this is a forum so people will have differing views and that’s ok…it’s actually a good thing that we don’t all think the same. Personally, I can’t get excited/carried away when play a pretty strong starting 11 against a L2 side - good confidence builder, move on.
-
But think of their PL experience.
-
I actually can’t think of a player less suited for the PL than Bouba. Slow in thought and physically. I actually preferred the Silva signing to this one….his lack of application in 99% of his appearances for us - minus one good half against Wolves….is shocking. Can’t think of a CM that let players ghost past them as easily as our Bouba.
-
A diagonal over Iwobi’s head to JJ was clearly on there though and confident I could have pinged that as a Sunday League CB. Let’s say that Faes had zero options (he didn’t) then go back home to Mads and let him go long….you sure cannot defend that blind back heel?
-
I clearly wanted to reply so badly. I also like that my two duplicated post missed out average…that’s a skill.
-
Which in itself is a problem….Faes is bang average at best. Not quick, yet he and others seem to think it. That back heel and his attitude afterwards sum him up. Watch his body language after a goal, I’ve said this since day one, Klopp used to talk about having mentality monsters, he’s the polar opposite. I haven’t even started on how weak he is at defending one on one - watch our goals conceded last season, he has this ability to make his body shrink when attempting to block a shot. I should probably get off the fence so in one word…..SELL.
-
I think that’s a bit of a stretch. Chelsea, United, Villa, West Ham, Brighton, Newcastle have better squads and know they won’t finish above Man City, Arsenal and likely Liverpool. Also, on the day they were distinctly average and we didn’t create a proper chance after we scored.
-
Considering he’s come up against two mobile (in Traore, rapid) wingers, I think he’s done ok. Him having a left foot offers such a greater balance than putting JJ out there.

But Cooper said he thought we could have picked up a result? 🙄 -

Listening to Cooper’s post match comments on WYS (I’m clearly a sucker for punishment). A few things irked me - 1) The obviously dumb founding ones on Ricardo which seem ironic considering he previously said he’d watched all of last season’s games. 2) He NEEDS to drop the rhetoric that were some plucky Championship club that hasn’t played PL before…that mentality worked for Forest who had been in exile but it’s a defeatist attitude NOT pragmatic and can’t exude confidence when that’s one of the biggest things he needs to do for our players. 3) His comments about Ayew constantly playing in the PL like a badge of honour all but confirm that he’s definitely demanded his signing which still feels such a poor business decision. -
I actually think @Dahnsouff does come off reasonable most of the time but normally tries to create a healthy challenge….ideal for what we’re all on a forum about the club we’ve loved for years. However, I agree that this mornings one probably didn’t hit the mark nor read the room….one positive though he didn’t do personal insults which so many of the Top/Rudkin fans seem to come out with.
-
I think he’ll be one of our better performers this season but that’s because I’m predicting us to be so rotten that an unspectacular 7/10 player will be our highlight 🥹
-
I keep seeing this on here but can’t actually find anywhere it’s been shared. Not disputing it wasn’t a valid reason for any manager btw - I’m staunch Rudkin out, ole ole.
-
Grow up mate. I don’t rate Cooper but I HATE these pathetic comments.
-
Funny how my panic has now just become numbness to the situation. Cooper could leave tomorrow but the main problem remains - a terrible upper management that Enzo called out and completed their own review on their underperformance.
-
I was coming on to say this. Rudkin as a minimum needs to go….Top can’t sack himself but he NEEDS to actually employ football people rather than someone who has wormed his way too the top and proven to be incompetent and out of his depth.
