Let’s say it’s at 10, he isn’t creative, all he does are lazy bounce passes and isn’t even athletic enough to help with a press (not that we ever seem to be able to set up that way). In the last minute of the game, the “experienced” Burns needed to look up and square the pass less than 6 yards and he can’t even do that. Horrible signing, of many!!

The problem with this thinking, history shows that it never pans out that way. When a player has a year left on their contract and it’s obvious that they’re not renewing, whether it’s unconscious or not, they typically “play it safe” to avoid any nasty injuries as the player/agent will be thinking about their next signing on fee etc. League One is a physical league and this drop off, would stand out even more blatantly.

Reid also being the go to substitution, if we’re the chasing the game boils my piss.

I hate that both Faes and Thomas are playing. Been a huge part of our free fall yet still playing a game for us in September 2026 is criminal.

I sound like a broken record but Cags made the PL Team of the Season, picked by the players themselves. I have no idea why we can’t appreciate that Rodgers deliberately mugged us off by picking Amartey ahead of Cags when we were free falling. Cags got this accolade when Maguire was playing week in, week out at United, Laporte (missed a large part of the season), Gomes playing every game next to VVD and others like Vertonghen, Rudiger etc.

The Faes/Soyuncu comparison has always confused me. Other than them both having a ricket in them. Cags was superior to Faes in every way. Cags was rapid, Faes isn’t. Cags Cruyff turn out of trouble didn’t ever scare me, Faes is definitely not as technically sound yet oddly believed that he was. Faes is a poor man’s Cags, regardless of playing next to Evans or not.

Not disputing that but the hype that he also got when Spurs put 6 by us was quite funny too. Worth noting, that time period that you mentioned, Danny Ward oddly resembled a professional goalkeeper rather than the competition winner that he usually played like.

Similar to Faes’ debut. We weren’t as toxic as a fanbase but remember him getting a bit OTT praise for his debut when Spurs smashed us didn’t they?

Got to feel for Aluko but JJ is clearly our first choice RB. Wouldn’t say no to Aluko having a run at LB. Aluko rightly or wrongly hasn’t ever played a period of consecutive games and a great learning curve for any player, let alone a youngster.

A very interesting take and further confirmation, Enzo dropped Thomas like a stone. Martin plays him for full 90 minutes. Enzo walking his players through tactics at that open training session was something that we’d likely never see under Russell. I was vocal about Enzo whilst here but the sad reality is, he’ll be our best manager for many years. Cooper, Ruud, Marti and Russell will never manage Chelsea or Man City (let alone both).

I’ll add to the well wishes for Jake. He was able to host in a professional yet down to earth manner. Confident that Jordan will step up and bring something different to the table.

Braybrooke may not be the long term solution but he’s very far down on my list of concerns. He’ll go on to have a good EFL career. Anyone else remember KDH saying that he consciously worked on his own fitness/physical development to stand out in a pre-season under Rodgers!? Why do our younger lads appear to not have that mindset anymore?

Has there been a modern day footballer with such a terrible physique? Madders was slight but had some sort of muscle mass, Thomas has not physically progressed 1% since his first game for us. That on top of him having the football intelligence of an armadillo, yet somehow, he stills starts regularly for us.
