If there's a standout player, cool, obviously that happens and if you can identify those players then great, but over a quarter of Germanys second division rightbacks being ready to step up to a Premier League side? Simple as it sounds surely you just buy the best players you can buy. If we buy players now that aren't as good as what we currently have, and so don't improve us, then they equally don't play for us next season in the event of relegation. In which case, why sign them? Young, proven Champ level players who might be able to step up a division AND can at least challenge for the starting 11 are fine. But then that just links in to my opening sentence.
