  7. One of the problems is we don’t have a clear best starting 11. Even if you don’t have strength in depth, if you’re lucky with injuries you can still do well. Last time the other Foxes won the County Championship they pretty much used the same 11 all season. But a very quick and dirty look across most suggested teams on this thread have at best 8 in common, and generally only 5 or 6. I’m not arguing with the choices, but the fact that there is no obvious starting 11 shines a light on our squad’s lack of quality. Given the quite astonishing lack of basic competence of the senior management I never thought we were anywhere near a given for automatic promotion. I know many on here have relied on their view that most of the Championship is rubbish to justify their optimism about promotion through the play offs, but if there’s a lack of quality it’s at the bottom half of the table, and the way we are playing, we’re just about Championship quality at the moment. So at this rate, I think a play off place would be an achievement.

  9. It’s probably just dawned on him that at 29, but with his years at Spurs and handful of appearances for England behind him, he’s not going to attract any Premiership interest, and LFC won’t be returning any time soon to the Premier League.

  16. Originally I was quite enthusiastic about Masood, but he's been a massive disappointment. He's an excellent batsman, but he just fails to deliver as you'd expect from your overseas player.
  17. I’m trying to give it a go. I’ve watched for about 15 minutes and I’m off to do some tidying up in preference. And I hate housework. I can’t stand the constant interviews and the fact that you get plastered across the screen the runs needed and balls left. The targets well off to the right and no way does it give you the idea that the red team is in the cart the way the simple 55-6 does. Washing up again….

  20. Wordle 1,510 2/6 🟨🟨⬜🟩⬜ 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 Now watch as my usual opening gambit reverts to type after two days in the sun! Although I'm secretly hoping that it's tomorrow's word. I'll then retire from the game.

  22. Nice to see Rishi getting into the all-rounder vibe!
  23. True, but it’s entertaining. I love a last wicket stand, even better if at least one is a certified long eared cotton tailed bunny.
  24. You sound like you’re arguing for a complete replacement (whether bowler, bat or w/keeper, I assume). That didn’t happen for India either; they weren’t allowed a complete substitution. The rules for years have allowed a wicketkeeper to be substituted but the substitute can’t bat for them. It’s the wicket keeping element only that can be substituted. So England haven’t been unfairly treated at all, as you suggest, by not being allowed to put in a fresh bowler if the original pick is injured on day 1. Whether complete substitutions should be allowed is a different issue, and many have called for it. But there’s been no unequal treatment here; if Smith has been injured another wicket keeper could come in and keep wicket, but we wouldn’t have been allowed to sub in another batsman to compensate for losing Smith’s runs too! Subs that can bowl and bat are only allowed if the player they are replacing has a concussion injury (or Covid).
  25. No idea if there would be a demand for it but as state schools don't have acres of playing fields (mine had a universal couple of courts that, depending on the colours of the lines, were used for a number of different sports but that was it - no grass and nothing of any size) I remember going to an outdoor sports centre in London that served many state schools called Barn Elms - could something like that be developed for both schools and other clubs use as well as cricket facilities (may also get a few more interested in the actual game). Could be wishful thinking as the numbers may not work.
