What a ward thing to say
-
The assignment from OP was to admit you were wrong about something, not to “admit” you were right 😂
-
Didn’t bother to read the thread, but here’s my take. He just might if he’s not satisfied. He also might not if he is. Though if he is happy here, he still might walk if the right offer comes. Or he might not even if he’s not happy here if the right offer doesn’t come. It’s quite clear that whatever happens it’s a possibility.

I’m sure everyone agrees that we can’t play the same style every game in the Prem. I’m also sure that if Maresca decides to keep Vesty, he’ll have a plan how to utilize him and cover his weaknesses. This is not a discussion about whether Vesty can catch Sterling or Hojlund on the counter - it’s about whether or not a capable manager may use him effectively in the PL. That remains to be seen for us.
-
Could you at least try to address some of the evident arguments for him not being awful in general? All players have bad spells in their careers, and with Vesty there were circumstances that make it hard to know how well he could’ve done.
-
For how many games under an awful manager? He had a quite solid career up until then. My point isn’t that he definitely will be great for us. My point is that we can’t know how he’ll do until we see how we set up against different quality opposition, and that you can’t judge the man from a few games for us and disregard his entire career before and after. I also don’t see how people can be so sure that a player of the year and best cb in the championship-type won’t cut it in the prem.
-
When people say that, it rarely is. Simple, I mean. We won’t know how we’ll set up or how he’ll do in the prem until we’ve seen him play a good amount of games. That’s the reality, not that he’s either crap or a world beater.
-
We don’t have much patience, do we? I know it’s a football forum where people voice opinions, but I think the manager has earned a little faith. Maybe before posting just entertain the thought that he just might have a better idea about the strategy and tactics than Joe behind the keyboard… edit: ie, if a problem is obvious to you, it’ll be obvious to him too.
-
Didn’t see it, but losing 3 in a row isn’t necessarily a problem. It might be bad luck, and if these losses were spread out over the season instead this place wouldn’t go into meltdown. It’s only a problem if there are more structural causes like we’ve been found out and lack a plan b etc. but I don’t think that’s it. Regression to the mean should have us winning the next couple of games
-
I never tried to humiliate you, but I can see that my answer might look arrogant - not because of the words I use, but because I try to analyze your motives. I’m sorry about that. Even if it doesn’t apply to you, I do think it’s a widespread phenomenon everywhere that people stick with their opinions instead of correcting them according to reality, though.
-
I’m not arguing against him being slow, just that it necessarily makes him “crap” in the pl. As I’ve said before he might not be good enough for us in the PL, but he’s done nothing to suggest that he’s not this season. Fact is he’s played very well this season, and now he’s also been MOTM vs a PL-opponent. That, and the fact that he has had a fine career until he crashed into Brendan, should at least make us willing to try him in the PL.
-
I don’t think you’re cynical, just stubborn. It’s called cognitive dissonance when reality proves you wrong and you’d rather deny reality than adjust your world view. It seems that might be what you’re experiencing… opinion.
-
People keep saying that, it’s like they don’t really read other posts. There are plenty of posters in this thread arguing why his lack of pace might not be that big a problem in the PL - there are and have been other not too fast cb’s, we can play a low block in some games, pair him with a fast cb etc. It all depends…

Match Ratings: Leeds 3-1 Leicester City - Vote Now

Because we didn’t concede because of his tactics? -
Yet another attack on free speech. Thank you for standing up! Now, go lie down.
-
He was very good both defensively and offensively most of the game - including his brilliant header that should’ve resulted in a goal. His little leg flick that gave them the chance for their goal was clearly a mistake - and a Vestergaard classic at that. He’s always had those in him where he seems to get overconfident and tries the smart thing when he should’ve played safe. The one where he tried to dribble but lost it to Bamford were much worse, though. Still, he was probably MOM for 80 minutes and should not only be just on his mistakes. The problem yesterday wasn’t our defense, but our inability to finish off chances
-
Not deserved to have a goal disallowed when it shouldn’t be
-
Let’s just freaking score now
-
Vesty 😳
-
They can’t sub Enzo, it’s the other way around!!
-
Should’ve been 2 up - no offside and a huge chance, though Mav was under some pressure and might’ve gotten a penalty had he fallen over
-
Which would be just as wrong
-
If we’d won today this thread would look completely different even with the exact same performance from Vesty. Outcome bias.

Viktor Kristiansen joins Bologna on loan

Motta seems to like him, and he’s improved with every game. Think he’d like them to buy him, but I still don’t think they can pay our asking price even if they end up in a CL spot -
I don’t. I’m just not convinced that he won’t be either.
