  1. Does this include stuff like marketing/stadium upgrades and the training ground?
  2. DM me and I'll answer it
  3. They’ve already been gaslit into making themselves poorer and with fewer rights, now they’re happily being gaslit into voting to remove their own human rights.
  4. These were a couple of pretty decent answers to pretty stupid questions, in fairness: If it had been the Conservatives, there would not have been the accountability, which is now in place, because they spent years and years avoiding it. And I think I saw that the Leader of the Opposition said this to The Sunday Times at the weekend: “I have inherited a gigantic mess and I’m cleaning it up.” She said: “It’s very difficult…it’s going to take a while.” I know exactly how she feels. And The right hon. Lady said that the Opposition were not referring themselves to the ethics advisers. That is among the reasons they got booted out of office last year. She complains that we are going through the due process for a Budget and going through the necessary steps. We tried a Budget on their watch without going through those steps. What happened? They blew up the economy. We will take no lessons from them. I honestly can’t believe she’s incompetent enough to ask questions so stupid that she sets the PM up for an easy reply that reminds the public of the multiple and repeated breaking of the ministerial code under the Tories, the attempt to change said ministerial code, the complete lack of any ethics across their 14 years in power, AND the gigantic disgraceful mess of a country they left behind for the next government to fix.
  5. Guys I think we need to appreciate that we've made it 5 pages in this thread today without it getting deleted. We all deserve a pat on the back.
  6. Tice and his ilk are genuinely evil, sub-human scum.
  7. My oldest friend's husband is trans and it really hadn't dawned on me until I met him how much we all take for granted being able to go for a ****ing pee or poo without the anxiety of having your identity questioned or facing the possibility of assault. The first night I met him we were out for drinks in town and his choices were either to use the men's bogs which we all know can be like the toilet in Transpotting some times, or to use the women's toilets while clearly presenting as a man with a huge beard. Everyone is focusing on what Linehan said and the consequences for him, nobody seems to have thought about the consequences of narratives like his and Rowling's on innocent people who just need to do a basic human daily activity.
  8. It's very clear what Linehan was referring to. My point was that Jon's post: Is not the same as Linehan's post. Words matter. I don't think I've disagreed with that. The law on incitement has been in place for 4 decades now and the police clearly felt that Linehan's tweet met the threshold for investigation. Not saying that's right, just that they acted on what the law says after a complaint from the public. They were right to do that over Connolly's tweet and right to do so over Jones' speech.
  9. Actually it was more of a point about the Two Tier Outrage when it comes to one working class woman who is accused of avoiding £40,000 in tax vs the absolute silence around the £20m+ avoided by a multi millionaire mister of the previous government and the former Prime Minister's billionaire wife over the best part of a decade while he was in office.
  10. I'm still ****ing waiting for my £10k.

  12. Nah she’s a monster and needs to be jailed. Unfortunately the prisons are all full
  13. 10 years worth of an MP’s salary plus 4 years worth of shadow education secretary roles, then 5 years as shadow deputy PM plus other various roles, and one year as minister for housing; she’s easily earned over £1m in her parliamentary career so far. This new property has been mortgaged and not paid for outright, meaning she can spread the cost over the course of her mortgage. Would you like me to dig a little deeper into the cumulative £20m of tax avoided by Akshata Murty or the £5m settlement negotiated by Nadim Zahawi with the HMRC while in his position as Chancellor of the exchequer?
  14. To be clear, please give me £10,000.
  15. Give me, a minimum wage earner, £10,000 and I’ll spend it in my local community, in my local economy on things I need to survive. Give Musk £10,000 and he’ll not even notice it. It won’t get spent in the economy, it will just disappear into his bank accounts rather than spent on consumer goods, and wouldn’t provide any immediate stimulus to the economy.
  16. That’s not what he said.
  17. Of course it is, but it's based on my understanding of the policies Labour are putting through parliament as we speak, which I believe will significantly impact the polling trends across this parliament in Labour's favour. There is no real chance of that this government not lasting till 2029. They have the 4th strongest parliamentary majority in history. The only way for another election to happen before 2029 would be for the House of Commons to vote no confidence in the government or for Starmer to ask the King to dissolve parliament. Given Labour have a majority of 174 seats, there is absolutely zero chance of them voting to call an election. They still be in power by 2034.

  19. An absurd prediction to make 4 years away from the next election.
  20. @Muzzy_no7 To be clear - I’m not saying he’s been perfect or hasn’t made any mistakes - he clearly has. But one year of Starmer has been exponentially better than 14 years of Cameron, May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak combined. It’s really not a high bar. And this really shouldn’t be a controversial or partisan opinion.
  21. Yes. I do. 100%.
  22. It’s honestly a fascinating question. We are institutionally a Christian (Anglican) country; our entire framework is based on our Christian heritage, yet Christianity has no real bearing on our lives or influence on our lawmaking or culture any more. We have huge populations of other religions including the other Abrahamic faiths plus Sikhism and Hinduism, while atheism/agnosticism/irreligion has been soaring for decades; we’re mostly secular as a society. Contrast that with the USA - constitutionally secular, with church and state completely separate by design from the start, yet Christianity has dominated for centuries and is currently being destroyed by Christian fascists. I think our arrangement is better.

  24. They do under the The Equality Act 2010, Section 7: 7 Gender reassignment (1) A person has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment if the person is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or has undergone a process (or part of a process) for the purpose of reassigning the person's sex by changing physiological or other attributes of sex.
