  1. Or that they're genuinely a very good side, which they are.
  2. When Middlesbrough are tearing us a new one next week this will look a bit silly.
  3. Going to this protest and then supporting the team afterwards aren't mutually exclusive, I'll be doing both.
  4. I was hoping that Faes would do something to increase his value at Monaco...turns out he's managed to make it go down further! A fire sale would probably bring about what you describe there, and keep in mind the typical wage bill in this league is £20-30 million-a lot of restructuring required but it's not as though the city inherently cannot support Championship football or more. There will just need to be an acceptance of some short-medium term pain while this mess is cleaned up.
  5. It really isn't a certainty. Cov beat West Brom tomorrow, we beat Stoke and we're already out of the bottom 3. If we're in this same position with a couple games to go sure, but all to play for still.
  6. Where've you heard that?
  7. The club as it stands isn't worth anything. You'd pay a nominal amount in exchange for taking on the various liabilities and debts. We have a number of heavy burdens on the club's finances....be it the wage bill or the maintenance for all the property we have. High earners need to be sold or naturally let go when their contracts expire, and we have to re-evaluate what a club like ours needs with respect to training facilities, academy etc. Sell off what we don't absolutely need to support Championship football and try to regrow the club more organically. Many people might baulk at that, but we literally cannot afford to continue as things are.
  8. Yes and no. Hillsborough is a decrepit mess that needs expensive work done to it and they'll need virtually an entire squad next season. Our high earners will eventually be moved on and if nothing else, we have a big wedge of land and property that can be sold off. Downsize and build back up.
  9. If a white knight comes along for Sheffield Weds, one will come along for us. At least that's what you have to hope for anyway.
  10. I've been an STH for the past 25 years. Through a lot of our time in the top flight I almost felt spoilt and that things were a little too good to be true. But this is what being a football fan is ultimately about-the hope that this season will be 'the' season, and I got to experience that. No matter how bad things ultimately get, that can't be taken away. We've discussed long and hard about renewing/not renewing and gone back and forth a number of times. The day that I give up hope that things will turn around will be the day I don't go anymore...and I don't think that day has been reached. Things might get worse before they get better, we might go down a division or even two. But I still have hope that they eventually will, and for that reason we'll sign up again for next season regardless of how this one finishes. Totally understand and respect those for whom that line has already been crossed, you wouldn't do it lightly.
  11. Yep. A Stoke team with an injury crisis of their own and in poor form. Got to be looking at this as a very winnable fixture.
  12. He doesn't need to make us invincible, but he does need to make us significantly tighter at the back while giving more freedom to the attacking talent that does still exist in this squad.
  13. The worst case scenario is for the club to cease to exist. Not happening. There is invariably a 'white knight' who comes in to relieve clubs of owners who've given up. Sometimes takes a little while, but nearly always one shows up.
  14. On that note if memory serves, their owners put themselves into administration, after having filed charges against the club. So the administrator found that the best 'offer' was to sell the club back to the owners. If KP were so inclined, they could do the same-if they had the cash to put up against the club in the first place.
  15. Would just be nice to see a clean sheet...and I'm not just talking about on here if we lose.
