I like some of the optimism you have about doing a bit of creative accounting, but I've got a hard time believing it. Loans secured against transfer fees I can accept as a somewhat normal practice for a lot of clubs, but it's certainly not normal to take them out against parachute payments (though Burnley did it somewhat recently also). About 10 places, I'd say that makes the clubs of similar stature. Derby had also won a few top flight titles, Cov had won a major trophy in that time compared to our solitary league title in the 1920s and League Cup wins. My point is, if you were asking this question around 2010, ourselves/Cov/Derby/Forest were all pretty similar sized clubs. It's not as though they've always been minnows and we've been top tier.

Took a few days to digest Saturday's game and I think that capitulation against a side with nothing to play for and in rotten form marks a point of no return for this team. Previously I'd seen enough to say on the balance of probabilities we'd be ok, now tilted the other way. The first time in our history we'll be below Lincoln in the pyramid, pretty sobering.

Compare the clubs from their founding to around when SISU took them over and when KP took over here. There really isn't that big a difference.
