I can't imagine what you deem exciting - for me it's goals and creating chances - we have the most goals and the highest xG, so there's plenty of excitement and we do it more often than almost anyone else. Not only that we've scored some fantastic goals this season, it's not like we're cardiff who have only scored 14 of their 35 goals from open play
-
Well this is why people are questioning your opinion - firstly, because we are not tactically inflexible, and secondly because you have no idea what style of football we'll be playing next year. We have seen this season maresca has been flexible in his tactics according to the way the opposition plays, why would he not do the same playing in the PL? Have an opinion, sure - but be prepared to have the holes in it exposed.

What's nonsensical is the endless whining that we'll be rubbish, that we can't play the way we're playing in the prem etc - it's all meaningless conjecture, probably from the same posters who expected us to be in a relegation battle THIS season. It all adds fuel to this arrogant assumption of certain fans that they know better than the manager, that he is blind and naive - it's part of the same problem of fans booing and moaning because they think that we could be doing things better and more effectively than we are. It also permeates the whole notion of entitled leicester fans - if we go up, it seems like there is already a core of fans who expect us to be pushing for europe rather than simply cementing our place in the league - sure we'll lose our fair share of games, but look at newcastle currently 7th and they've lost almost half of their games, brighton only have 8 wins out of 22 matches and actually are pushing for europe. last season everton stayed up with just 8 wins, leeds the year before with 9. Nothing is guaranteed,

Did not see that. Still it was badly handled by all involved.

There's a very fine line between the ability of the best and worse teams as far as actual talent, especially at this level - you have to remember how many players we have that have not played at this level before or are still eligible for the academy. We have a handful of players that are arguably too good for this league, but the majority of the squad are on the first rung of the ladder. It's not such a big gap that we can get away with playing sub-par as we've seen, the games we have won we have generally had to fight for. Look at brum, they were looking good for a playoff spot, the same team a few months/weeks later were nearing the relegation zone - fine line between a squad's floor and ceiling.

Did you watch the game? We got through their high line many times - the first daka miss came from quick passing from JV to doyle to KDH to daka; mavididi's crossbar, comes from two negative passes followed by two quick forward passes, ricardo lobbing it into the attacking third; the kdh miss - again from a throw in in their half we go backwards, winks to vestergaard, but then doyle smashes a superb ball over the midfield to albright, quickly on to praet and in the box; the penalty - doyle takes a long throw towards their CB who hesitates and daka has half the pitch to run into. I'm sure there were other moments much like these. You cling to this mantra of us being 'overdefensive' and yet we had an xG of 2.7 and scored twice in the last 20 minutes - What you say sums up what the problem is - you're so focussed on what you perceive to be negative passes that you can't even see what we're actually doing to teams - liken it, if you will, to a lion, stalking it's prey and then, bam! And i'd rather be a lion, than a mouse, rushing around fighting for scraps and ultimately at the mercy of a dozen other predators.

but the players aren't perfect, they don't always see these opportunities. the problem is that fans shouldn't be groaning in these situations when we are playing sufficiently well to have 14 shots and an xG of 2.7 - this isn't about what the players are doing, it's about the ignorance of the fans that they still can't rationalise that the 'boring' elements of our game (passing) lead to the exciting elements of our game (scoring). It's retarded, they complain about a negative pass as though it defines our way of playing, yet ignore the fact that we have scored more goals than any team from a higher xG than any team. The behaviour of these fans is ignorant, ungrateful and, frankly, indefensible.

I suppose he sees it as he's saying it - if you don't like me or what i'm doing - føkk you - i'll go somewhere where i'll be appreciated. I'm sure he doesn't want to go, but why would he stay if he's not appreciated - i think he's completely helping himself, it's the moaning fans who are not helping.
-
Anyone who is bored by the way we play should be forced to watch the entire 16/17 season over again, watch us idiotically trying to carry on playing 'exciting' counter attacking football - watch us scrape together 1.2 goals a game (2 goals per game playing boring football, in case you were wondering.)
-
To build on this - i think people are confusing 'boring' with 'considered'. Not saying there aren't times when it could be more dynamic, but i rather enjoy the sight of us toying with opponents. It's a fine line, it seems between 'gerrit forard' and 'óle!' I'm not sure any more what people actually expect from a football match or even from the sport in general. I blame it on the internet and the onset of global ADHD.

Well, like every game this season, this has the potential to be a tight affair - and will, like every game this season, it seems, probably come down to whether we take our chances or not. Forget about the pace of the game, or the possession debate, what matters is whether our strikers can find some more consistency in front of the goal - some horrible misses in our last game, but so many well crafted chances. I really want to see yunus in for praet - with him and KDH both able to carry the ball it should free up acres of space for our wide men - for me that pairing, along with the return of Fatawu and Cannon could be the start of a good run of far more energetic and dynamic performances. It feels like, even when we had ndidi, that was what was missing - and i just love yunus' energy.
-
But this is exactly what Enzo is trying to reinforce - despite our league position, it isn't easy - swansea started playing and played well, our players were under pressure and it showed. We have to differentiate this belief that 'oh we're the best we shouldn't be making mistakes or letting other teams have chances' from the reality that 'we are only better than other teams when we play better than other teams'. You know i'm not directing this at you, but the problem with leicester fans now is the same as it has been since we won the league. Entitlement. When puel had us upper mid-table playing (funnily enough) similar football, for the fans it wasn't good enough, to often the cry was 'we should be pushing for a top six place'; last year (and yes i am over-simplfying this, but it was a part of the problem), rather than accepting how much trouble we were in and, i hate to say it, getting behind the team like forest's fans did, we turned on the team and the manager - because, the cry went out, 'we shouldn't be in a relegation battle'. And now, god know's what get's into people's minds, but the cry is 'we're top of the league, we should be blowing teams away, we should be swashbuckling and a thrill to watch' - but the reality is, we're not really any better than anyone else, only under maresca we've sustained a level of football higher and more consistently than anyone else. so we have to stop looking at games as if we're underperforming and start looking at games and say we're doing better than our opponents.
-
he could have had two more assists if we had strikers who can finish
-
Nah, it was way more than that - right from the start, they took it short and we only had mavididi (i think) covering - it was a train wreck. Faes isn't as good as vesty playing in the middle. no one picks up the guy at the back post, even then we had chance to block it, clear it - anything. it was all wrong, way more than just poor marking.
-
Think the late goal was just a breakdown in organisation, which is possibly brought on by the late subs lacking experience.
-
poor form, i saw it through and what a treat it was.
-
never gave up hope, but we were dog-do in the first half and detroit were superb - humble enough to admit that.
-
In the first half when he could just stand in the pocket and pass, yes - but as soon as he had to move he was poor, the second blown 4th down being the most damaging example.
-
Sensational. First half they were strangers, 2nd half the real team showed up. That said, detroit made it easier for us than it should have been - sometimes you go on 4th down, sure, but detroit failed 3 times, and the one time they didn't go for it, when they were all over us, they settled for a FG. That was key, but also, Goff sucks under pressure. Need to be way more focused in the SB. Although detroit's offence were incredible first half, not sure KC are better against where we are weakest. 4am, off to bed happy.
