  1. Extortionate? Have you actually stopped to consider how much money it must cost to cover a single away game - last night they had at least 6 cameras (which they probably rent), which means paying for 6 camera men, plus they'd need some kind of OB studio (again, probably hired), transport, catering, a producer and some production staff, insurance, the media team... It's not just a bloke with a video camera, this is pro-broadcasting - it's extremely expensive. All so fans of the club can get to see matches that, historically, would never have been broadcast. If it's not in your budget, fair enough - but don't go throwing around words like extortionate when you clearly haven't considered the financial implication of the club providing this service. unless of course you expect to have such luxuries provided to you for free?
  2. explain the comedy? you think these players are slow?
  3. Wow - that's a terrifically cynical way of looking at it. I don't think guys like Danny Simpson or Mark Albrighton would go on record commending the owners, saying how fantastic they have been to work with because the PR team has told them to. This club ain't perfect but that really seems to be an absurd conspiracy theory. And i'm not sure there are many fans who worship the owners, as most we worship the club. very few fans who think more about Top than Vardy. Especially as perhaps their biggest fault is their silence - seriously, how exactly (beyond some sponsorship and photo ops) are they making the club 'all about them' ?
  4. Ok, maybe i'm being a bit hyperbolic, but it's not made up. And you wildly over-simplify my point - it's not just names on stadiums but that presence, from stands down to function rooms - it's always happened, I clearly remember Shipman and Martin George using the club to promote their businesses. And i'm sure, nowadays, there's a lot more that goes on that isn't apparent, these owners often have fingers in all kinds of things. Ultimately, i just don't see the point or vindication of getting upset about KP putting their name on the stadium and shirts (which they pay for, so the club benefits from this) - rather this than have owners like at forest and chelsea where you have owners bringing in players!
  5. I've not written a phd on it, so maybe my argument isn't as strong as you'd like... The point is, people acting like what KP do is impure and immoral is, at best, naive - the sport has been awash with egotistical owners and invasive corporate interest for decades. when you see the way the players and ex-players talk about vichai and top, you can see how key they are to this club, so - why not be in the photo, why not use the club to push their brand; rather that than be someone like everton and their dodgy russians.
  6. OK. as i explained to another poster, the reason i didn't expand on my point was because of the poster who asked me to expand on the point - i don't know the guy, but he clearly doesn't have a very high opinion of me, at the very least, we seldom agree on stuff - so i wasn't going to get into another slagging match with him. But for what it's worth our club do have a good reputation (if not amongst leicester fans) - things like pioneering the rememberance day fixture, having an award winning programme, the gifts and treats for fans at games, not to mention the king power charity - there's loads of other stuff i'm sure - too many people here are just determined to find fault and criticise. Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't mean they're on the wind up. For what it's worth, i'd rather a few king power adverts (not as many i'm sure as the alliance and leicester ones) and a lovely expansion, than be bournemouth with their 15k capacity and those big ugly panels they have.
  7. Jack Walker, just off the top of my head - and that was back in the 90s I seem to remember Terry Shipman acting like it was all about him, too. Football has been riddled with local businessmen using clubs as their playthings, and as marketing tools since long before i was born. It's just on such a massive scale now, and so much more commercial that it tends to stand out.
  8. What? a generalised moan without any particular focus based, it seems, on events since the end of last season. I could joyously pick the OP apart but I've better things to do.
  9. Happy enough with that - team looks confident and up for it. I feel like we're going to see a lot more quick passes into attacking space this season - a front three of fatawu, daka and mavididi has to be one of the fastest in the league.
  10. Couple of great back post clearances from thomas, and some nice attacking progressive passes - don't get the hate on here for him.
  11. seems to be a back three, ricardo and aftawu as wing backs, ndidi and winks in the middle, macateer possibly a 10, but he seems to be drifting right, and daka and mav up forint.
  12. trying to work it out - it's almost 3-2-3-2
  13. fatawu playing wide left...
  14. Jesus, we have some pace up front!
  15. Interesting to see mcateer as a 10 - a lot of people were saying that's a better position for him than on the wing.
  16. Was this one of your spotting hang outs?
  17. My interest in darts seems to have diminished as quickly as it popped up. Everything that was exciting about it seems to have vanished - it's like every player (bar two) have massively dropped off in consistency and quality. Only a year or so ago it was a case of any one from a dozen players winning now it's just po-faced humphries and littler who seem to be winning. It hasn't helped that the PL seems heavily biased towards uk players. Maybe it's not helped that we don't get all the tournaments over here, and we have to listen to the tiresome and not-as-funny-as-he-thinks-he-is wayne mardle every week and the same crap football songs from the crowd, but it's just become really predictable and uninspiring this year.
  18. No, it's a perfectly reasonable response - i'm sure CosbehFox understands my reluctance to take up his offer, i'm surprised he even asked to be honest.
  19. With all due respect - you don't actually give a føkk about my opinion on most things, so i'm not going to take you up on this.
  20. What Question? How many of those 1600 are likely to have gone to see the u21s play a pre-season friendly, had the games not clashed - not many - the u21s are hardly a must see for most fans.
  21. I can't imagine swathes of fans will be rushing to either game, for it to make that much difference.
  22. I haven't researched this but i wouldn't be surprised if we're no different to any other club in this respect. It's also worth considering that they've likely suspended spending any money on the stadium as it is, with a refurb expected as part of the expansion. At the end of the day, owners have traditionally had their names all over clubs and stadia as long as football has existed - it doesn't seem such a big deal to me.
  23. Of course you wouldn't. We'll see how things are when it's time to do stuff - maybe tensions might have subsided by then. for all of the club's issues, there are certain media/marketing elements they seem to do well on.
