It's crazy. Wealth, when it comes down to it, is illusory. For most people, it's just numbers on a screen. What is more, that illusion can disappear in a snap. So keeping your big numbers on the screen or the big numbers of actual people who would benefit from those big numbers and therefore not physically arriving on your doorstep begging for help.

But there's no money in it. So we won't. Depressing, isn't it?

I didn't know either. It's a bus stop with a bus lane in front of it and a cycle lane behind it. An island (which just typed as anusland ) bus stop would be a better description. The problem is that pedestrians have to cross the cycle lane to get to it and some cyclists aren't willing to slow. They'd rather injure people.

I think something else would finish us off before that. Though that adds another point to what I was saying before. The provision of water, one of the most basic requirements for life, is a resource for wealth. I.E. shareholders>infrastructure. That it requires charity to provide people with clean water in certain countries is damning of humankind.

While we have stupid, selfish humans in charge nothing will change. I'm a religious man and I believe only God can sort it out. (Lots of prejudiced people will have now switched off). Which isn't to excuse anyone, myself included, from doing their part to try. Money (or rather, the love of it, without getting all biblical on yo' ass) is a major contributor. If humankind really wanted to, we could go "green" in less than a decade. The technology, the capacity, the knowledge; it's all there. It's the will of people to give up their riches that is the problem. No one wants to give away their energy saving devices, or the people who sell the components to them either. Massive corporations don't want to manufacture goods that last, they want you to throw away and buy another in a few years (modern appliances are deliberately difficult to repair). Building constructors will try to get away with a minimum cost also. People who want to be green are often priced out. EVs are expensive and those who live in lower cost housing will struggle to charge them, whilst public transport continues to be shoddy. Even with grants, solutions to old inefficient boilers aren't cheap. The healthiest and most organically grown food? That's the most expensive. Then you've got your average Joe or Jo doesn't want to go to their local shop to buy something for £4.99 when they can get it from China for £3.99 (plus £1.10 postage) They'd rather eat at McDs than a restaurant. They'd prefer breakfast delivered to their doorstep than pour milk and cereal into a bowl, or, heaven forbid, peel some fruit. As a delivery person, I get to see all of the above and I dread t think what some people's, average, everyday, working people) carbon footprint is like. Don't even get me started on the super-rich, wh are stupid enough to spend £10Ks of £$€¥ for a single night of excessive living in a hotel, none of which will be put back into supporting the environment. So, no, humankind is surely doomed. But everyone try your best. There's no excuse.

100%, none of them are thinking they should give their their car to give the planet.

And why he's only got a four-speed gearshift.

Complete over reaction. Yes, tell him to be careful what he says in future. I'm not sure that Lizzie Simmonds understands what outrageous means.

Leicester making the news again, thanks to Soulsby's blinkered drive to turn the city cycle friendly, with floating bus stops. Just been on BBC Breakfast. Personally I think it's not so much the idea of the floating bus stops that's the problem as selfish, ignorant cyclists (not ALL cyclists before anyone starts) who travel through these areas at top speed through crowded areas shared with pedestrians.

Obviously the emoji is in there to let people know this is supposed to be funny.

Some people just believe that harmful action validates retaliation of equal or greater force. They don't agree with rising above anything or being the better person, nor do they understand how revenge breeds revenge. People have been tried for murder because they murdered someone who murdered their friend or relative. Often it was a snap moment, a lapse. People are imperfect. Nevertheless, they still pay for their action. We are all accountable. Anything else is anarchy.

I just saw an article in my Google newsfeed, "17 tips for taking your dog camping." (I can only assume there aren't 18). I was highly surprised to see that tip no. 1 wasn't, "Don't."

Harsh. I'd stamp on their head, which is ok (apparently)

Why wouldn't you make sure KKK got their season ticket back? -
I don't think any more needs saying.

Much as people might like the idea that law enforcement is like Hollywood movies, it ain't. Officers of the law have to be better than those who break it. Unlike Judge Dredd, they are not the law. If this was a football game that this happened in, everyone involved on both sides would have their careers finished and people would be especially appalled by the final assault.

I also heard this. Surely can't be true. Brazil have even hosted the Olympics, can't imagine a nation not winning something at a home Olympics. Edit: just checked. Bolivia are the only South American country NEVER to win a medal. Brazil have 150. -
