Below is the squad announced for the match with leavers in red and short term in orange:
Ackermann, Ahmed, Amin, Budinger, Cox+, Currie, Evans, Hill*, Hull, Kimber, Mulder, Parkinson, Patel, Salisbury, Scriven, Wright.
Players not named:
Barnes, Davis, Finan, Ramji, Steel, Swindells, Walker, Welch.
I think Finan may be the only one left out who is definitely contracted for next season. Could be injured?
Shouldn't read too much into one match day squad announcement though its unusual to see one so large given they normally go with 13 or 14 but bad news for Swindells and good for Evans?
Finan has a long term back injury. No great loss.

Scott Currie on loan
Strange signing unless we are looking at him with an option of investing in him next season.

Put Robbie Keane in for the Wolves Ireland section and it said I was wrong…?

Forecast looking more wet now. It’ll be a good toss to win.

Looks as though just shy of 500 tickets have been sold for Tuesday so far if they ticket numbering system online is anything to go by.

The other shitty thing to remember is if we get to the final, we'll be playing against a side back to full strength.
My thoughts would be that if this competition is always going to be when it is (alongside the 100) then teams that reach the knockouts should have to field a high percentage of the 11's the fielded in the group stages.I’m sure this was noted last year and the two sides in the final both stuck with the players that got them there.
Ideally, we play Worcestershire in the final after beating Gloucestershire in the semis (we owe those cheating f***ers one)

Cometh the hour, cometh the white ball specialist...Arron Lilley to the rescue?
He’s officially retired now and moved to UAE, so unlikely unfortunately… 🤣

Presumably Ackers and Parky will be able to play on Tuesday. Rehan will be with England. Do we know when Handscomb returns to Oz?
I have heard Handscomb won’t be here for the final should we make it, and we can’t replace him with another overseas either.

Does anyone know if the semi finals are pre drawn? As in, do we know which winner of which quarter final we will play?

We’ll have our biggest game in years on a Tuesday, the day after a bank holiday, in an empty ground, all because the scheduling is messed up.
Ultimately, the scheduling has a lot to answer for. It started this year with the outrageous 11am Thursday T20 blast start at Lancs.
Why can’t they spread fixtures more evenly over the course of the summer? Do T20 double headers on Friday and Saturday nights? One Day Cup spread over 8 consecutive Sundays or an occasional Friday day/nighter? The only cricket we had in July really was 2 county championship fixtures.
The ECB want counties like us dead and they do a pretty damn good job at trying with the scheduling. Andrew Strauss can come up with all the reports he wants but they still don’t see what fans really want.
I know it may not be for the purist, but surely more T20 blast fixtures on more accessible days and times would be far more beneficial for the future of clubs like ourselves. I started off by attending a couple of the Friday nights about 8 years ago and now I’m a full member that tries to get down as often as possible. It seems the best way to gain interest initially and get much needed funds into the club kitty.

In regards to Sunday, I saw Yorkshire at 90/8 having played football in the morning and thought about not bothering 🤣 only the Yorkshire tail wagging made me go down for our innings. Perhaps some more had the same idea. As daft as it sounds too, it was in essence a dead rubber (in a way as qualification had already been ensured).

To be fair... it was probably easier to get to and a more enjoyable experience for most who want to go at Kibworth than our actual ground, that's why Oakham was always more popular.
Without getting classist.... our ground couldn't be in a stupider place for people who actually like cricket and go to watch us
. Facilities are poor and dated too.
Given the fact it can't really be developed and there's next to no parking, i'd hope we'd explore alternatives in the future. I know it's sad, but you'd see a damn site more going if our ground was in the South/North Leicestershire countryside as opposed to slap bang in the middle of an estate just outside the town centre.
I think quite the opposite in the long run… you only have to look down the road at Coventry to see what it did to their football club.

Scott Steel to reappear like Jesus Christ and step in for Ackermann? (We know this won’t happen but as a good bat/spin option would be the most sensible option)
Pushing Kimber to 6 and Scriven to 7 and bringing in Ramji significantly damages our batting attack for me. Personally I’d bring Swindells in at 7. Alternative Walker and Ramji depending on conditions.
Budinger has bowled spin too before? Haven’t seen much of it but could this be an option?

Very surprised Josh Hull hasn’t got an England u19 call up all things considered.
More beneficial for his development perhaps to stay with Leicestershire and play in the one day cup

He cannot kick a football. You think Iversen is bad, then you haven’t seen Odunze.

Squad for tomorrow:
Ackermann, Budinger, Evans, Handscomb, Hill, Hull, Kimber, Mulder, Patel, Ramji, Scriven, Walker, Wright.
Budinger
Patel
Hill (C)
Ackermann
Mulder
Handscomb (K)
Kimber
Scriven
Walker
Wright
Hull/Ramji
Only really one choice to make I can see really depending on how much spin is needed.
Going to be quite a few players at the end of the season who won't have played much. Got to think Welch is off after a lacklustre Blast campaign. Steel, Barnes, Davis, Swindells all not seen much.
Welch is playing in Zimbabwe isn’t he? He’s due back any time now I think and would be straight in for Budinger I imagine

Yeah done very well to replace the 4/5 that have gone to Hinckley LR - they will be decent at Step 5. But got a ropey red card in them! Aylestone's set up is lovely to be fair.
Anyone in particular you’d back for a red card Shaun 😅

I reckon he'll play during the comp itself but we might not see him today. If we can get something like:
10 overs from Wright
10 overs from Mulder
10 overs from Ackermann (only spin option?)
That leaves 20 for perhaps Scriven and one or two others to fill in. Hull and Walker would be my choices initially with an eye on the future. So 6 bowling options with Kimber capable of throwing in a few overs too.
I wonder if now that Nico is gone we might see Scott Steel again? When he was picked he generally batted ok in both white ball comps and he's also a reasonably handy spin option which might be useful without Parky and Rehan.
It’s Henderson that has an issue with Steel, not Nico.
Steel has better bowling figures than Ramji and is a good bat. It’s a shame that certain figures can’t bite the bullet here for the good of the club and involve Steel for the one day cup.

Am I correct in saying that only Ahmed and Parkinson will be missing for the RLODC for that tinpot tournament?
(And I wonder if they will allow those not selected in a match day squad to return to their clubs to play as they have with Potts and Tongue against us…)

Lloyd Dyer in a 6-0 home win against Ipswich. Poor old Bradley Orr was on loan from Blackburn, remember him twisting and turning, falling to the deck, he just couldn’t get near Dyer.
We had 3 or 4 big home wins over that couple of seasons and each one of them Dyer was unplayable.
