I know what you mean but; If he lasts a similar amount of games here as he did in his Parma spell, his CV is going to be pretty shagged already. If he has big aspirations in football management, it'll be a bit of a blow you'd think. I would love to be sacked from a big club management gig though - Financial dream!

So many players who aren't very good and don't really want to be here - Always a lovely combination. As you say, the exact same problem we had last year and haven't been able to rectify. Feel a bit bad for Enzo really - He will be the first casualty of this, almost to no fault of his own...

I don't think it matters who is running the club. Nobody is going to pay us money for players like Faes and Ndidi. We'll probably have to loan them out and still pay some of their wages! Or (gulp) use them this season.

Surprised most have answered ‘No’ to the last question - The prediction thread has most posters putting us in the top two! I’m actually a positive person generally, but I can’t be about this season. People seem to be able to operate on blind faith, but I would need to actually see something to suggest a change in our recent fortunes. People were even positive about the first 30 minutes today!…a 30 minutes in which the opposition were clearly just finding their feet, and we were just average - At best.

We somehow look worse than last year. There isn’t a single positive to take. When are we allowed to over react? Just so we know… Christmas?

We’ve playing against a PL team having lost Tielemans, Maddison and Barnes from last year. Replaced them with Harry f*****g Winks. Of course we’re getting battered. We would be if Liverpool played their youth team. The manager and tactics are totally irrelevant.

Was hoping Winks would be decent against a hard press. He might be as bad as Ndidi. Going to be a long season 😅 Enzo is properly clueless if he thinks he can play this way with those players.

Gray always looked great against Championship opposition in the Cups, so that would work out nicely. Get rid quickly when we get promoted!

Clubs at the top level want footballers in the middle of the park nowadays. Pretty sure we're stuck with him now unfortunately.

Kante in every game of the title winning season. Only half joking! Some great ones in this thread already, but one that very weirdly game to my head was Mark Davies against Yeovil away. I'm sure it was on TV and hilarious just how far above that level he was.

Always loved RP, but he is 30 and perpetually injured. Of course the club should be looking to move him on if the deal is right.

Either that or it’s like the ball is glued to his feet. You never know what you’re going to get with him.

I think we are more likely to look back and realise we had a group who were massively overrated. Unfortunately they all rate themselves very highly and we are going to be stuck having to watch a lot of them next season.

Considering the news of our interest broke early and it’s still rumbling on - Pretty safe to assume he’s Maresca’s main target for the middle of the park. Sounds like it’s just a case of convincing him.

There was a poster called knowitall who was pretty reliable years ago. I’m sure he ended up leaving due to abuse after getting one wrong, but I may have misremembered that! Must happen all the time though. Deals get close then never materialise. People change their minds at the last minute pretty often in football you’d think.

Hmm, that looks a pretty comprehensive list! We could be on quite regularly on the international channels - Might end up being quite restricted. I had viewing sorted in the Prem, getting relegated is very annoying.

I’m sad enough to have watched many a wingers highlight reel - Never seen one that cuts the cross/pass out of almost every clip though - That is a tad worrying! Looks a confident player though, and he quite clearly has a very good turn of pace. Could be exciting to watch, could be unbelievably frustrating. Let’s roll that dice!

Suggests City weren’t overly keen on selling him but the money offered was too good. They’ll only buy him back if he ends up being world class anyway. You’d hope they wouldn’t buy back for £15m and then immediately sell for more. Seems a bit malicious 😅 The 20% sell on clause seems to indicate they wouldn’t I suppose.

Maresca has spoken about the fact that we will need to find different ways to win at times this season. This sort of signing gives you a different option during games.
